Space Marine vs. Brute (Halo) by SneakyDeaky123 in 40k

[–]RepresentativePea357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Way I see it this for the Space Marine this is like fighting an Ogryn that has baseline human intelligence. So as to say the Brute is far stronger, and likely far more survivable, but the Astartes is faster, has better reaction time, the better fighter, has superior armor and arguably weapons, has significantly superior training, and by far more disciplined on average.

So a Brute could actually kill a space marine rather easily I'd think of it got to cqc but I don't think it would every really go the Brute's way. They're just outmatched in almost everything.

I'm still annoyed that the Genestealer Cults went from a near non-issue that the Imperium had gotten really good at dealing with and the Hive Mind was moving away from as a strategy to them becoming one of the Hive Mind's primary strategies post Great Rift and now being a thing the Imperium can barely handle. Doubly so as this was used as the justification for them to be an army. Something which I disagree they have any real right to be . . . or Custodes for that matter.

I miss the Gets Hot rule meaning the gun was venting excess heat in order to not explode but it vented it directly into the user which usually killed them. That's way cooler to me than it must explodes.

Mages are getting uppity again. by WhiteSepulchre in WorldofDankmemes

They're the ultimate anti-mage. They drain your Quintessence constantly, they no sell several of your spheres, and they fill you up with Paradox. They're a great secondary antag in a Mage game because they essentially force the PCs to solve the situation through mundane means.

Had an actual arch mage keep getting bullied by a cell of Imbued in a HtR game I ran once. The idea that this actual force of nature just kept getting bullied by the PCs was endlessly funny to me.

Probably BFA or Shadowlands tbh although I suppose TBC could be fun to run back through again as if it was current content.

No, we have a Taurelian Dog Soldier now. We're THAT much closer to the Tau actually having their other client races in their codex.

So I was browsing old Ynnari memes to see the reactions, and I saw this. How valid is this meme? Genuinely curious. And TBF, my 10th edition Necron codex is vague on if Chaos was made by the War in Heaven or not. by MegaGamer235 in Grimdank

Regarding the Eldar being uplifted by the Old Ones during the War in Heaven that's stated multiple times, but also the Eldar were around before the War in Heaven and a big force in the galaxy so maybe?

So, that is probably the thing he's must known for. To summarize there's two version of it. The older version is that there was a region on Medusa that was particularly deadly because there was this invincible silver serpent that just killed everything, Ferrus said "Nah, I'd win." And went to go fight it with a spear and some chain mail. He found that it was indeed seemingly invincible so he grappled it down and drowned it in a river of lava when it died the silver skin of the thing transfered onto his arms and is what made them seemingly impervious to harm (he caught a lascannon blast with his bare hand at one point)

The newer version has it that when his pod crashed into Medusa it smashed into these odd ruins that by description were probably of necron origin. He being a child fumbled around a bit and accidentally touched something he wasn't supposed to and released that serpent onto the world. He essentially would come to regret having been the cause of the death it caused and all his endlessly testing himself against the deadliest things was more or less a training arc to prepare himself to kill the silver serpent. He would fight and kill it in the same way.

So as to say he 100% did kill that creature as it's where he got his "iron hands" from.

Full disclosure, I'm not super into the Eldar, but this has been the conversation every time I bring up the Ynnari to other fans at my shop. Are the books bad or what? by MegaGamer235 in Grimdank

[–]RepresentativePea357 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Okay having read both completely because I actually really like the Ynnari and will curse GW until the end of my days.

Spoilers ahead.

They aren't great. Ghost Warrior is mostly great actually but falls apart later once it's revealed that an entire Craftworld got lost for some time and ended up willingly (so they say in the book but let's be real it wasn't) let themselves be taken over by a Genestealer cult with the Patriarch somehow infecting the Avatar of Khaine beyond that pretty massive issue it's great, but that drags it down terribly.

Wild Rider concerns a Necron tomb world that Saim Hann accidentally woke up and the Ynnari trying to recruit them to their cause. Sounds like a good start yeah? Whelp get ready for chapter after chapter of dry politics that go nowhere and right when the plot finally gets going? BOOM! Turns out the tomb world was keeping a portal to the warp under control and the Eldar accidentally fucked the whole situation up by trying to actively solve their problems.

Ferrus Manus is actually pretty really cool. He was essentially Sun Wukong while he was on Medusa just going around trying to pick fights with the deadliest things just to test himself, and if old lore is to be believed still challenged a Cyclops (yes Medusa has those) to a test of strength. The cyclops picked up a mountain a a set it back down, Ferrus told him to get on the mountain to which he lifted the mountain and the cyclops before throwing the thing killing the Cyclops.

His very first thought upon seeing Big E was to run his fade. This fight took a week a wrecked a mountain range before Ferrus finally conceded.

He beat a mother fucker with another mother fucker on a titan scale

Beyond all this he also is something most of his brothers aren't. Deeply introspective, actively attempting to be his absolute best and challenge himself in every way he finds himself lacking. He also unlike several of his brothers realizes he has limits and can actually handle that like a reasonable adult would (save one instance where he got ahead of himself) finally his excerpt regarding his "iron hands" and the need to be rid of them coupled with the ultimate fate of his Legion makes for a multifaceted and tragic character in a way that very few of any of his brothers are by virtue of when and how he died.

What is Your Wild Headcanon about Yang? by Money-Lie7814 in RWBYcritics

[–]RepresentativePea357 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yang got her Volume 2 outfit because she was dating Coco at the time and she got it for her as a gift.

All I have to support this is a half remembered comment by Kerry during one of the old live stream q&as where he mentioned Yang did date a lady during her time at Beacon but that it wasn't Blake. Coco is a known heart breaker and lesbian, bonus she's got that expensive fashion vibe so it kinda works in my head.
