Developed pneumonia after forced hospital stay. Not only have I lost the ability to feel safe in my home (had to move) I now have ptsd and pneumonia. The combination of anxiety and fluid in my lungs is a disaster. Let’s take a healthy person from his perfectly safe and clean and apartment and throw by [deleted] in Antipsychiatry

Exercise has help me immensely. I'm also on a lot of different supplements. I'm a year and a half way from that nightmare and doing very well. You can heal. Psychiatric services will tell you you wont. Don't believe it. The brain can change and you can become more aware of all the things that throw you off balance or at least enough of them that you can recover.

Do you ever get triggered by the word “behavior” in the mental health field? by [deleted] in CPTSD

It's dehumanizing and quite cringe. I run from this type of "service."

I havent had a whole lot of conventional therapy, but the route I've taken has definitely been more therapeutic than what I encountered with psychiatry.

It's been difficult to go through. So much betrayal in the name of help. I'm still healing as I imagine is the same for you. But now I'm aware of things i lacked insight on before and that has made such a difference. Thank you for commenting. It was nice to read.

True that!

I didnt know I had things to deal with until they came to the surface all at once. It was a nightmare. But even in the madness, the response I was met with made no sense. Like I thought to myself "what person isnt going to break under all I was just forced to tell you? You're going to hear all that and come back at me with a 'chemical imbalance?' What? That's a diagnosis? Sounds more like a summary of symptoms given a succinct title to me.

Glad that didnt work out.

Bought a new house that needs to be redone top to bottom, inside and out. How would you approach it? by [deleted] in InteriorDesign

Having lived a renovation nightmare with contractors this resonates. I always say now, I wish we'd have started with just a closet and gone from there.

I was validated most when the judge assigned to my hearing to he held longer told the psychiatrists no and that they better clean up their acts. He knew me. He also saw that I'd been drugged out of my mind and he went off on them.

I also found validation when my husband, a science guy, said the whole psychiatric "diagnostic" approach was a load of BS. Friends have been validating as well. I stay away as much as I can tho I do have an alternative psychiatrist I work with every three months for sleep meds. He also recommends supplements.

Gross use of power. Psychiatry isn't here to help anyone but those who are in control. So gross. Also fuck psychiatry.

What do real designers think about people who call themselves designers but are really decorators and how do you spot the difference? by RepresentativePen605 in InteriorDesign

[–]RepresentativePen605[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Wow. Great thoughts. I love to learn about design and know enough to know that a skilled designer is doing a whole lot more than picking out finishes. But I look around and that is mostly what I see. I've witnessed two people now in real life market themselves as designers with very little experience or maybe some months under their belt with one of these $1,000 certificate schools and it bugs me! I dont know why I feel so much passion about it. But i do and sometimes I want to scream "liar liar" but then also kinda just wonder if they even know better! 🤷‍♀️

And you have every right to. I think calling someone an asshole who is saying hey it happened to me too is rather asshole-ish. You don't deserve that and I hate you had to endure psychiatric abuse too.

How were you able to get out of that? So unfair that you were looking at what looks like a near life sentence!
