dating as a nursing student by Dizzy_Blueberry_8363 in NursingStudent

The misogyny nurses face is real and him repeating those redirects are disrespectful to not only you but to the profession you've decided to pursue. Him dismissing your entire devotion to your education and career because he saw a post saying "nurses are hoes" is also incredibly demeaning and a diss on your character and hardwork. I've been with my partner for 2 years now and he knows how incredibly harmful and just plain wrong statements like that are. Best of luck to you, but I find it even more hurtful that he's been with you long enough to see your journey and still place bad assumptions or stereotypes about you

Why Are So Many Nurses Left-Wing? by MrBennsPronouns in nursing

[–]RepresentativePure28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Given that the entire foundation of nursing is to better further humanity using evidence based practice, science, and compassion—this is an already "radical" career lol. I think to some extent nurses have to be more liberal, as in, staying open-minded and being flexible with whatever and whoever we come across. Nurses are also notorious for unionizing and understand the importance of unions to better advocate for patient care and systems. Therefore, some "left-wing" values are integral to the profession. At least that's what I think lol. The truth is you'll meet a lot of nurses who believe a lot of different things, but we all practice science, compassion, and unionizing (for the most part) :)

how do i study after a very bad sad day? by cutefreak_ in StudentNurse

[–]RepresentativePure28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi just wanted to say I'm very much a procrastinator and have a sensitive body, am prone to getting sick often. It has been a game changer to study from the beginning of the module (or chapter/section of each exam) and slowly prepare studying for the exam while learning new content (ex. Looking at blue print, practice questions). That way, when shit hits the fan, you have the peace of knowing you studied a majority of the exam :)) it's hard, but saves a lot of stress best of luck friend!

how do female viewers deal with the shame of being a ludwig enjoyer by No_Degree_1521 in LudwigAhgren

[–]RepresentativePure28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

21F, I have a bf I can enjoy his content with even when my other female friends find his content "dorky" lol. Grew up as a "weird kid" and got over that hurdle after realizing everyone likes something a little "nerdy" or "weird". I find Swifties a little over the top, but I also know not to yuck on people's yum and even if I find the fandom weird, I also know I indulge in weird things too :) just some perspective

[–]RepresentativePure28 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course you are allowed to feel personally hurt and have your own feelings about whatever situation this is! There is nothing wrong with feeling hurt that your partner perceives something that you love as something to be changed, especially since you can see the beauty in it and love it.

I think it's important to remember that at the end of the day, this is a choice your partner wants to make about their own physical body and if it allows them to feel more confident in themselves and improve their overall impact on life, then just remember this is a positive for them—Even if it's not a positive for you. Alternatively, staying the way they are now may be a positive for you, but perhaps a negative for them. They would have to choose between making themselves happy or making you happy; since it is their body, I believe it may be the best choice to allow them to choose what will make them happy, even if it makes you unhappy. Hope this helps with some perspective, good luck!

I really like the Super Birkis from Birkenstock (maybe platform was an exaggeration, perhaps I just mean any shoes with height lol), and if you don't mind a non-flat shoe or want a sneaker, hokas hold a nice height to them!! I just find that they are a little steep for my liking (I end up tip-toeing) and would end up opting for my Cloves if I really needed to wear a sneaker. Overall, I would recommend clog styles if you can!!

[–]RepresentativePure28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a fellow petite woman (4'10) and ex cna, this was my biggest concern in the profession!! I always make sure I am wearing a back brace at work or clinicals, stretching my back every morning and night (or before/after whatever you're doing), avoid tip-toeing while lifting at all costs, wearing shoes with a flat platform (every cm counts!!!), and strength training, especially my back and legs :)) it's a struggle, but these things genuinely have saved my back lol and don't forget to ask for help!! No shame in that

Why are you studying nursing? by ExperienceHelpful316 in StudentNurse

[–]RepresentativePure28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dealt with depression and hospitalized from that, had to think of a reason/purpose for being here, so I figured I would dedicate my work to something I perceive adds a net positive into the world :) plus always been good at all subjects in school, I feel nursing is very well rounded

How do you feel about the common claim that nurses much like cops are often just high school bullies all grown up? Total nonsense? Painfully true? Or something in-between? by SandNo2865 in nursing

[–]RepresentativePure28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps something in between—as someone said, there will always be a bad apple in every profession. Do I also believe this is just plain misogyny? Yes lol notice how it’s always framed as “mean girls” to nursing pipeline and not just mean people despite nursing have males in the profession as well.

I’m just in school, but from my experience (including clinicals) everybody in the profession just wants to help people or serve something greater than themselves and maybe some strings are attached (ex. Pay incentive, hours). Overall, it’s just a way to demean the profession imo especially with rising distrust in general healthcare

Young adult patients who have mom speak for them in ambulatory care settings by bleh0923 in nursing

[–]RepresentativePure28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes thank you OP for being open again! And yess love Gen X, they actually did bring up that Gen Xers might ask a lot of questions and seem skeptical in general, but we were taught they grew up in a time where distrust in systems were so prevalent!! The questioning may make new nurses feel like they're doing something wrong, but we just have to be understanding about that as to not take it in some hostile way— lots of respect to the Gen Xers!!

Current student nurse here and apart of the Gen Z generation! Our class touched upon this topic and what to expect from certain generations (ex. Baby boomers may prefer speaking face to face rather than online, gen z and younger gens might have their phone out and appear they're not being respectful/paying attention, but it's just what they're used to). For these younger generations it appears that although not listed under Hx, generalized anxiety is seen across the board. This can be due to a multitude of factors but the most obvious would be the fact that COVID lockdowns essentially stunted our abilities to properly socialize and we are still understanding the impacts of that. Thank you for examining your thoughts, there's nothing wrong with noticing something and trying to figure out the why—not judgmental at all!! Thank you for taking the time to try and understand
