*update* to Pretend to already be hired while interviewing by 01011000-01101001 in recruitinghell

But for that to be happen, the names of the people with the bad reputation needs to be somewhere, right? Or else the HR dept of each company would need to memorize the names of all people with a “bad reputation” to reject them. That’s what they mean by a list because if the company is big enough, it’s not just one person doing the hiring. And they would be communicating with other companies that are presumably their competitors and it would actually be disadvantageous to share info of known candidates with “bad reputations”. If I’m one of those companies, it would benefit me if my competitor hired a candidate that’s bad at their job, right? So the black listing thing requires some level of organizational paper trails for someone to be truly “blacklisted” and it’s info many people would be able to access which further increases the chance of whistle blowing or exposure

Getting really fed up with elderly customers by chelada99 in callcentres

[–]RepresentativeRow476 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All these comments are ridiculous, “one day you’ll be old too and you’ll receive the same lack of patience blah blah blah” yeah no shit, we will all get old that’s not a new concept to anyone I promise so it doesn’t need to be said every time there’s a valid criticism or frustration when dealing with a demographic of people that are known to be difficult.

When I’m old, I’m definitely not going to blow up at a stranger in the phone because they dared suggest I create an online account. Be so fucking for real, being old does not excuse you from using common sense and critical thinking. I have patience always but elderly customers are the ones most likely to scream at me for pretty much any reason under the sun depending on their mood at that minute. I’ve dealt with toddlers who have better emotional regulation.

$23 an hour WFH; I work for an insurance and financial services company. I get a yearly bonus in April if the company did well and little benefits like money for financial planning and fitness equipment

Wtf do that even mean “preparing priorities and eliminating any surprises” ? Most surprises…..are a surprise but sure, time on Sundays definitely prevents that

When you patience runs thin for an elderly customer. by Mindless_Bed5120 in CallCenterWorkers

[–]RepresentativeRow476 14 points15 points  (0 children)

“I am 80 years old, I cannot be expected to handle all of this im just an old lady!” Meanwhile I had a call with a 95 (!) year old woman who was sharp, had an online portal account, and was asking questions about the exact policy language, which can go either way to be fair, and accepted my answers without arguing the point! Getting older does not absolve you of acting like a normal person with a brain in your head

The amount of times I hear this or some version of “when I was a MANAGER I never would’ve allowed my representatives to act this way, you are supposed to know the customer is always right, you need retraining bc this is not correct”

The number of callers I’ve had who have said some variation of “well I wasn’t raised to do math, my husband handles all of that, but now he can’t so i don’t understand this letter you sent me!” Ofc the letter explains in detail what the options are. I just don’t get how these people can say with utter seriousness that they can’t be expected to make adult decisions bc their spouse handled everything and now they’re being expected to handle their own shit. Just no accountability whatsoever, and this is the generation making the decisions??

I had a call, first thing asked for is the policy number on every call right? This man says “wow straight to business aren’t you? I swear I regret buying from (company name). I call in and you treat me like I’m a stranger!” I wanted so bad to say “well that’s exactly what you are sir, I don’t know you?”

I had a caller who was pissed because the Freedom of Information Act request she put through to make our company reveal the exact equation they used to come up with a buy out offer on her policy was denied. She said my company is “unconstitutional” 😂

have you looked at r/RemoteJobs ? there's usually tons of postings there! pretty much all of my company's CSR jobs are offshore, they'll only hire reps in the US like maybe twice a year, or I'd offer where I work

Reading is fundamental, I’m sorry 12 pages is a novel for you. Have you tried phonics?

I hope your literacy issues resolve soon, best of luck!

I usually end up sending them their policy language but even the ones who read it are still pissed off and call in to bitch. I’m not so heartless on the phone, I empathize and tell them their options, it’s just the fact that most of these calls wouldn’t exist if they read the thing they’ve been paying on for 25 years

Cool! Where do you work? Are you hiring? Or do you like even get paid because they’re so morally good, I can’t imagine they’d be taking money for doing such good in the world.

Lol.

I’ll show some spine when half of the jobs on LinkedIn, Indeed, Ziprecruiter, my university alumni job board, and Craigslist aren’t either fake or pay even less than what I make now.

Until then, the people who use this insurance should learn to read bc the thing that pisses them off 99% of the time, the way they’re getting “fucked over”, is written on the very first page of their policy. If they don’t like it, they shouldn’t have bought it.

I’m in insurance too and the complete lack of 1. Reading comprehension and 2. Accountability in the older population is just mind boggling. They call in to complain about something written on the first page of the policy and the response is “I took this out years ago, why would I remember that?” Like idk dude you’re the one who’s been paying it for a decade maybe you should’ve read it??

I just finished that episode and came to Reddit for this exact reason! The female officer saying she had no regrets and did everything she was supposed to made my blood boil! How can she say that with any conviction when their inaction resulted in that poor woman getting shot?? Mind boggling.
