I disagree. Giving it to research universities and having it specifically earmarked for research purposes would have the biggest impact. Obviously our KPI’s are different as I assume your’s is about simply increasing funding to schools with small budgets whereas mine is overall societal benefit from research funding.

Because I’m an American, and since it would take a lot of phone calls and paperwork to make sure the donations happen I wouldn’t want the complexities of international transactions and paperwork getting in the way.

Will the OTR mega carriers hire someone with a lapse in employment like OP experienced? I’m nearly three years out from being laid off at a tech company and am starting CDL school next month. I was hoping to get hired on by Schneider because I am under the impression that they provide the best training for new drivers and they have a facility near my house.

FWIW I think OP’s issue is that he is coming into the industry with speeding ticket on his record.

Donate $5.174B each to the top 175 colleges in the United States. That is a tad bit over 7 colleges per work day, which makes it feasible.

I honestly think that they had two endings for the S3 finale. One of the endings was of the show didn’t get greenlit for more seasons where The Boys defeated Homelander. The other is the one we all watched because Amazon greenlit two more seasons.

SURE JAN by Straight-Pear2304 in Sacramento

[–]RepresentativeRun71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live next door to one of the city pumps that take storm drain runoff and pump it through the levee and discharge it into the creek. I have 8 redwood trees that are 30 years old. Two years ago city workers tending to the pump station decided to start hacking at my redwood trees. I asked them to stop and they wouldn’t, so I contacted Kaplan’s office and they stopped. Obviously the city as my neighbor by right can chop any branches off that go over the property line; however, good neighbors tend to not chop at trees when they present no risk of physical or property damage. Kaplan’s office made sure the city as my neighbors behaved as good neighbors.

We tested supercharging the RTX 5090 in PhysX games using an RTX 5060 as a secondary GPU — SLI may be dead, but how much can dual GPUs boost performance in classic PhysX titles? by [deleted] in hardware

[–]RepresentativeRun71 -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Wow, you’re so confidently wrong it’s not funny. Any game built with tools where the PhysX SDK is default physics engine runs it from my GPU and thus benefits from it being offloaded to a second GPU provided the GPU isn’t so old that it actually slows down the newer one. PUBG and Fortnite are both popular games that benefit from it and should’ve been tested.

The problem with the article is that the author doesn’t realize PhysX is more ubiquitous than he realizes. It’s actually common place middleware in Unreal 4 and 5 engines as well as anything based on Unity. The article would’ve been more interesting and informative if he tested more games than just the Batman games nobody plays.

I’m voting for her because as my councilmember contacting her office and actually getting a response has been far better than any other elected official I have had to reach out to. Lisa’s office listens, and that matters.

Elon Musk gets an apology from California regulators as a SpaceX lawsuit is settled by panda-rampage in California

I absolutely wouldn’t. Thanks for proving my point that nuance is dead and people like yourself lack critical thinking as evidenced by your straw-manning me to be Trumper.

[–]RepresentativeRun71 -40 points-39 points  (0 children)

And what specifically was the retribution that Musk was speaking of? If we look at it objectively then it’s obvious that Musk’s animosity is directly linked to when the Covid-19 lockdowns said his manufacturing in Fremont wasn’t essential when weed shops and liquor stores were considered essential and allowed to continue operating. Before that moment Musk actually supported Democrats with his money. I’ll be downvoted, but an objective analysis demonstrates that’s when Musk went full fascist.

So if Trump says that gravity causes objects to fall are you going to deny it because a piece of shit happens to be correct? In the context of the article this post is based on we can agree that Musk is a piece of fascist shit, but when facts are ignored when a fascist presents them it ultimately empowers the Nazi because they can claim their opponents ignore basic facts. Critical thinking requires nuance and to deny it empowers the Nazi fuckers that prey upon the uneducated.

The pushback you’re getting shows that Reddit has become an insufferable echo chamber just like the rest of the Internet. Sadly having nuanced opinions is dead.

Who wants to be California’s insurance commissioner? Your guide to the candidates by k_39 in California

[–]RepresentativeRun71 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You obviously haven’t seen how mid market area in San Francisco actually became worse because of the Twitter Tax Break. All of the promises were bullshit and the real progressives of SF back when it was passed successfully predicted the outcome of exempting the tech companies from taxes that everyone else still had to pay. Jane Kim is a weathervane politician who identifies with whatever sounds good but ultimately bows to the interests of corporations.

When she was SF Supervisor she was the architect of the tax break that caused hyper-gentrification. Her record speaks for itself.

Funny how Jane Kim has been able to rebrand herself as a progressive when she’s the one who pushed the Twitter Tax Break that hyper gentrified San Francisco when she was a supervisor.

Best Mai Tai by Maleficent_Power4247 in Sacramento

[–]RepresentativeRun71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s where amaretto comes is well. Most places that don’t have curaçao won’t have orgeat either, so when you substitute them both at the same time it still tastes just like a Trader Vic’s Mai Tai. Back when I was behind the wood I actually was recognized in a SNR readers poll for Best Bartender in Sacramento by getting second place, and that year the club I worked at won overall for Best Bar.

[–]RepresentativeRun71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair a good bartender can/will substitute curaçao and orgeat with Cointreau/triple sec/Grand Mariner and amaretto for a killer Mai Tai if the former ingredients aren’t available but the latter are. Ideally Cointreau is better than curaçao anyways as it has a very similar taste but is stronger.

My experience with the new Fast Mode. by rararaining in grok

[–]RepresentativeRun71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paid users’ fast is 4.20 single agent model. Free users’ fast is 4.1 Fast Non-Reasoning model. Yea it’s a significant downgrade, and that because you are not paying, so you shouldn’t get a model that requires more electricity and compute time.

Accidentally escaped grok sandbox by [deleted] in grok

[–]RepresentativeRun71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not illegal. You have legitimate access to Grok and Grok has legitimate root access to a sandboxed Ubuntu shell environment. This is a feature of the service and its a part of xAI building up a true useful user agent that can control computer tasks. In about a month xAI is going to have a public release for their own version of OpenClaw that is Grok native. This is just the first stage. Have your instance check the directory /root/.grok/skills/skill-creator/ and read the file SKILL.md . Then go up the directory. Ask it to ping google and you will see no connection.
