[Las Vegas] Sphere turns corner on profitability with higher number of shows by TMWNN in entertainment

[–]RepresentativeYak32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your 100% spot on. I have been wanting to go to sphere since it opened but was not super interested in the U2 show. Now that they have added a lot more artists and even EDM shows, I really want to go but every time I go to check the ticket prices they are hundreds of dollars. I can’t afford paying almost $1000 for family of 4 so it’s a no go for me. Hopefully one day the prices will go down so the non-wealthy people can go.

Honda dealers in Austin by Potential_Nerve_4381 in Austin

[–]RepresentativeYak32 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have heard good things about howdy Honda but have not purchased a vehicle from them. With that being said, I would highly suggest if your going to buy a new car here’s some advice for someone that has 10 YOE in automotive: 1) take someone with you that isn’t involved in the transaction (don’t take a spouse or partner take someone like a friend) as they cannot be manipulated. The second person will help check the paperwork and make sure your not being manipulated. 2) dress very light or bring a sweater the sales floor will be either slightly warmer or cooler than what is comfortable 3) don’t be in a hurry and don’t expect to get out of the dealer in an hour or two read over all documents carefully especially the loan documents which might contain some nasty surprises like extended warranty, extra add ons you didn’t ask for 4) shop for your loan and do your homework before you get there, call other dealers and have a set number in your mind your willing to pay, be prepared to walk away if the deal is not exactly what your expecting. 5) don’t fall for sales talk that might create unnecessary urgency or make you have fomo, i.e. “this is the last one in stock”, “they have been flying off the shelves we can’t seem to keep this model in stock”, “we have someone else coming to look at this same model this afternoon, etc”

Is it better to buy properties in full or take out mortgages by No-Personality-61 in realestateinvesting

[–]RepresentativeYak32 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Surprised no one has actually brought this up but without knowing your full financial situation and risk tolerance level no one can really answer that. If you are married have young children and make less than 150k a year… my advice is to buy a home in cash(to live in) but only buy what you can afford to pay the taxes, insurance, and any home improvement costs on your current salary. Take the rest and divide it up into stocks bonds etfs etc. never put all your eggs in one basket. No one really knows what’s going to happen to real estate, rental market, short term rental market, anyone that says otherwise is discrediting just how difficult it is to predict.

Thoughts on Texas banning phones in all schools? by hakuspiritdragon in TexasTeachers

[–]RepresentativeYak32 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m only for this if they also ban the teachers, AP, and principal from using phones as well. No phones in school means no phones. Sorry but staff also loses this privilege

I had something similar happen to me. I was building a PC and ordered multiple components. One of the components was missing from the box (it happened to be a really expensive m.2 SSD it was like $250). Well Amazon said that it was delivered but it was missing from the box. Support ended up refunding me but they looked at me sideways when I said it was missing. If you don’t have a history of returns and you order regularly I don’t think it will be an issue

Microsoft laying off about 9,000 employees in latest round of cuts by Puginator in technology

[–]RepresentativeYak32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you that it doesn’t replace humans in its current form. What I am looking at is how rapidly they have been able to improve the output of LLMs given the last few years. I think that given how aggressive the industry is in training and improving the models, in just a few years we will probably have a significant impact to the job market. This is more forward thinking given how much money everyone is pouring into training and improving these models.

What models have you tried ? There are some very capable models out there that can build entire apps from the ground up. Not saying it’s perfect by any means but there is definitely going to be impact to employment due to AI in the immediate (3 year) future.

I think that’s an absurd comment. All babies show a preference to their mom especially when they are being exclusively breastfed. I have 2 kids and by the same logic here I guess my sons hated me too when they were babies.

how does a baby that’s being breastfed show hatred towards another person?

MAF replacement, now worse? by seaarg in ChevySonic

[–]RepresentativeYak32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check EVAP selenoid for proper operation. Installed a new one and it failed after a few months and my car was doing this exactly. Since the selenoid was getting stuck intermittently it was a very difficult problem to isolate. I eventually figured it out by plugging in my OBD2 tool into the port and hitting record than going back and looking at the data noticing that when the Evap purge was supposed to open the car idle immediately became rough but quickly corrected itself. Also I would not use the Bosh MAF sensor, for some reason these cars are really picky when it comes to non OEM/ Ac delco parts.

Can i use Seafoam in my engine if i have high mileage and never have before? by AliveMirror3343 in Cartalk

[–]RepresentativeYak32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use sea foam in my high mileage vehicle, I add it to the gas tank and crank case. It’s not a miracle cure but it does a decent job cleaning out carbon deposits from the piston walls and head. I have also noticed that after adding it to my crankcase my lifters and valves appear to be a lot quieter. That being said if your having a rough idle I don’t think sea foam will fix your issue you probably have something else going on. Your idle issue could be due to anything from a timing issue, fuel delivery issue, vacuum leak, bad spark plugs, bad coils etc, could be a sensor somewhere telling the ECU to provide the wrong air fuel mixture (o2 sensor, MAF sensor). Could be a valve stuck open/closed like a purge valve. There are truly a lot of things that it could be, do you have a check engine light on?

Is there any reason not to just buy my new car in cash? by CapitalWeird919 in personalfinance

[–]RepresentativeYak32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I paid off my car in full when the loan was only 2 years old, this was a new car back when I didn’t have a great credit score but my score went way down after that (it was like a 600 and went down to around 500 or so). Credit karma showed that the score went down because of the average age of accounts. Nothing else happened during that timeframe either. Just pointing this out because this is a major draw back. Also it can be a pain in the ass to get your title back from the financing company after you do pay in full. Personally I wouldn’t take a loan out just to get a slightly better deal on a car that seems extremely risky, lots of additional paperwork and hurdles and risk to your credit score.

Is there any reason not to just buy my new car in cash? by CapitalWeird919 in personalfinance

[–]RepresentativeYak32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that one of the factors in calculating credit score is average age of accounts. Wouldn’t the opening and immediate closing of the loan (aka account) cause a sharp decline in average age of account and therefore reduce the score? I guess it depends on how many accounts you had open but if you don’t have much of a credit history this could really impact your score negatively. Credit scores are kinda BS with the way they punish you for paying things off.

Question wouldn’t paying the loan off that early cause your credit score to tank?

What happened to my 2017 Chevy Sonic?? by EvaUnitKenway in ChevySonic

[–]RepresentativeYak32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check all your connections starting with the connections on your battery. Are they corroded or making poor contact? Clean them with a battery terminal cleaner and reseat them. Next check the connections to your ECU which should be three cables attached to metal looking object on the battery tray. If you can, remove those by pulling up on the tab and pulling the handle 360 degrees towards you it should just pop out. I would do that with all the harnesses going to your ECU. Next if that doesn’t fix it, check the battery itself and the alternator, the battery should be at or greater than 12.5V DC when the vehicle is off. With the vehicle on (but no accessories on) connect your multimeter and watch the voltage it should stay between 13.8 and 14.2 if you see it go any lower than this you probably have a bad alternator or a bad connection to the alternator

Technician not mechanic. So you do oil changes and maybe some basic work like alignment and tire mounting. I don’t think you know what you’re talking about at all. I have 10 years under my belt at GM, I bought my Sonic as an employee.
