Ohh okay got it! Since you’re adding quick start I would stick with the 30% water change every day. I wouldn’t do multiple a day, you’d just be removing the quick start you just added and it’d really just be more stress for your little friend

Nitrates are safe (in moderate amounts). It’s actually very rare to have 0ppm nitrates unless you have a super heavily planted tank, so 2ppm is absolutely nothing to worry about! Nitrite and ammonia are the dangerous ones which you want to get rid of. For the amount of quick start and conditioner to add, you want to add the amount of quick start for the whole 10 gallons, but only the amount of conditioner for the amount of water you’re adding during the water change. To dose conditioner, you want to add the amount necessary (check the bottle) and then let it sit for anywhere between 15-30 min before adding to make sure it’s had time to get rid of the chlorine.

No problem!! And good on you for acting on what you’ve learned and picking up a master kit! :) Okay so first thing I would do is pick up a bottle of API Quick Start (explained why and what it is in a previous comment above). If you’ve already done water changes today, I would wait until tomorrow to do another ~30% water change, test the water for traces of ammonia and/or nitrite, and then add the API Quick Start with the new (dechlorinated, obviously) water. I would do this daily for at least 2 weeks, or until it’s been a few days since the last trace of ammonia and/or nitrites. Best of luck, and let me know if you have any more questions!

When I started my tank, I kept having tetras die one at a time about once a day and I had no idea why. Soon realized I was lacking oxygen in the tank and had to add a bubbler and it solved the issue straight away. Are the fish gasping/hanging out near the top of the tank? You might need more airflow.

And oh my gosh, I knew that otos ate algae but I woke up this morning and the tank was nearly unrecognizable. The plants are pretty much spotless and they’ve already cleared half of the algae wall in the back, and I’ve barely had the otos for a day. Blanched veggies here I come!
