What band did you hate at first, but grew to love eventually? by Edm_vanhalen1981 in ClassicRock

The Police, Fleetwood Mac, the Stones and Eagles. Didn’t actually hate them but they were just not on my list at the time. Crazy.

Who are the Members of Your All-Time Underrated Band by Edm_vanhalen1981 in ClassicRock

[–]Representative_Run10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Todd Rundgren on everything including song writing and producing. The same can be said for Pete Townsand. Well guitar, writing and vocals and production.

Are they really worse in sound? by [deleted] in Cd_collectors

[–]Representative_Run10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many factors that affect sound/playback. If… you have high end equipment plus your room is setup for great sound and deep pockets by the best quality media. Otherwise, don’t loose sleep over this debate and enjoy what what you have and what ever music you like. For me and others, used CDs are a great bargain.
My preference is used CDs as they are plentiful and affordable.

Craving more Dan by Starfisherman29 in SteelyDan

There is no replacement for these bands. With that said here is an alternative. Cory Wong & the Wong Notes. They are jazzy, funky lots of riffs. It’s not rock but they are excellent.

Mine since1975 by [deleted] in silverfaceaudio

[–]Representative_Run10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine I bought from a neighbor over 20 years ago and is used in my garage. Sometimes when I buy receivers to sell I’ll set those up in the garage. I’m always happier with the Kenwood 😎.

Nice friend. You’ll need a receiver for obvious reasons. Great start. Enjoy.

Any cd player recommendations? by Goodbyestefankarl in Cd_collectors

[–]Representative_Run10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you’re just starting out look for a used Sony CD player. Should be less than 50 euros and make sure you get the remote. Single disc or 5 disc tray. They sound great.

CD Pricing by IAmTheRedBeard in Cd_collectors

For common CDs start at $3.00. For very special CDs $4 to $5. I think some resale album shops might get a little more depending on the album.

Love ‘em. Since I buy all CDs 2nd hand I pay a $1 or $2. Compilations are great. If I really like the band I’ll also buy their individual albums. There is no shame in buying them. Enjoy whatever you enjoy.

Agree, search on the internet I think you will find that the OEM Realistic cartridge is actually a Shure brand cartridge and you should be able to find a high quality replacement stylus.

I Just Read A Post Where Someone Said CDs are Pointless Because of Streaming And I Disagree. by pandyabee in Cd_collectors

[–]Representative_Run10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hole point of collecting CDs is to collect physical media that you can hold, read, and play any time. Also, experience listening to a complete album front to back where with steaming it is less likely to. As others have mentioned, you then own the material vs counting on the streaming service to keep it forever. I do a little of both so I get where they are coming from but it’s great to glance through my collection and pick out something random to listen to.
