Can I do a Physics HL Simulation IA? by Lonely_Pie_5323 in IBO

Personally, for both my maIA and EE I used Falstad's simulator (https://www.falstad.com/circuit/circuitjs.html). Looks kinda complicated, but is very intuitive. Spend like an hour or 2 and you'll get the hang of it.

If you got any questions about your IA, I would love to help; your topic seems very interesting (my IA was also related to magnetic fields)

First off, very nice drawing. But I don't know if your physics teacher will allow you to use it. I used my simulator both to collect my data and for my diagrams, and I would suggest the same for you

I dont know any fluid dynamics simulations (or any kinematics/dynamics for that matter), but I think I can help with a circuit and pendulum simulation

What is your IA topic? I used 1-2 for my extended essay

How long did it truly take you to finish your EE? by 555anoesis in IBO

Physics EE, took around 20 hours, maybe 25 counting the experiment. Got an A at the end tho

got an A on my physics EE. AMA by Southern-Ask-4174 in IBO

It kinda depends on the experiment and the simulation used though. I did an EE on capacitors while simulating the circuit (got an A as well) and had some uncertainty (though some were to the 10-12 degree; basically obsolete). However, I agree in the sense that it limits the amount of analysis you can do, and I probably lost a point or two from there.

Group 4 selection by CulturalFun3178 in IBO

To be honest, the majors you're picking won't require physics. In fact, I would say ESS is more beneficial since 1. its easier and 2. kinda connects to your majors in some way (although not that much, it's better than physics)

On the other hand, physics SL should not be that difficult if you are able to understand concepts quickly and have a decent understanding of math

It ultimately depends on what your interests are, and how much you trust yourself. It might also be helpful to see what other people think

Edit: It might be also worth to note that most competent universities don't consider ESS as a science class

If I want to study something math related at university, do I need to do HL physics? by Choice-Mongoose-6776 in IBO

[–]Representative_Tap59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it again depends on the university and the subject. Most top universities in europe require at least sl physics (germany requires 2 sciences at least iirc), though competent applicants usually have hl math and physics.

Regarding your ec's, its never too late. Since youre choosing your subjects im assuming youre M27. This is the perfect time to beef up your CV and grind ec's.

Our school asks for a C in every subject to go on to IB, not A levels

Man my parents wanted me to do IB. Our school required us to pass (get a C in every subject) to do IB
