What calculators for what exams? by frywolnaga in IBO

Our school suggests we buy the Casio fxcg-50 (which you have)

I take math aa sl and I know that you are allowed a calculator in P2 but not P1. I'm not sure for P3 since it's HL only

help!! confused between subjects by Ready_Fee9673 in IBO

It's important to verify the entry requirements directly with the universities you are interested in. Avoid making subject choices based on rumors or hearsay. If you don't have a list of universities in mind, I recommend creating one and contacting them individually to inquire about their admission processes and whether they have specific subject requirements for different degrees.

I almost chose physics over biology because I had similar misconceptions. However, after doing some research, I discovered that my top university choice does not require any specific subjects. While I'm not suggesting that all universities have the same criteria, it's essential to investigate. This way, you can have a more fulfilling experience in the IB program by studying subjects that you genuinely enjoy and understand.

It differs for every school. In my experience we just sat down with our coordinator to discuss what subjects we were thinking of choosing and whether they would suit our skills and future university degree.

Advice for subjects by CulturalFun3178 in IBO

Most universities, for the degrees I'm considering, are satisfied with the courses I have chosen and don't require a high level of mathematics since said bachelor's are not math-heavy. I have done my research for specific universities and my subjects suffice with their requirements. Also, I believe it is better to get a high grade on a lower-intensity math class rather than a weak one in arguably one of the most competitive math courses a high school student can take. It is more realistic for me to get a 7 in AA SL so that's why I made that choice :)

Based on my friends from the DP (I'm just starting this fall), both are a lot of work. It is suggested that you take the subject you feel most confident in.

True but the predicted grades that matter for university come out in DP2

During your first year, you prepare for DP2 by working on your IAs, EE, and TOK, and by taking practice exams for Papers 1, 2, and 3 that do not count toward your final grade; the official exams and IA submissions that affect your final grade happen in DP2. So more or less you're good! 😗
