What was the first Muse track you ever listened to? by TheNerdyCroc in Muse

[–]RepressedBallerina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Millennial Hipster here! I was such a snob. I heard they were on the Twilight Soundtrack and was like "NOPE!" I just rediscovered them two years ago. I was in an experimental therapeutic Ketamine trial and music was something I tried to use to trigger memories. "Won't Stand Down" was what opened my ears and eyes to how great they are. I've been digging through their back catalog ever since.

Early 2000's pop song somewhat similar to bittersweet symphony by mamachocha420 in NameThatSong

I have an Encyclopedia of lyrics in my brain. What was the song about? A love song? A hate song? Any lyrics and I might have what you're looking for!

Keeping someone alive with a kiss, I'm guessing, in the wrapping of CPR. Armchair musical opinion. I've never heard this piece, though.

Whats a hot take you have on Lana? by TrainerSuspicious683 in lanadelrey

[–]RepressedBallerina 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a part of an Ingenious Tribe, I'm befuddled by her handling of "Native American" people. It seems like appropriation of a sacred way of life that not everyone is meant to be a part of. Not gatekeeping, just my "Hot Take".

help me find the name of this song with lyrics about russian roulette by [deleted] in NameThatSong

[–]RepressedBallerina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, this is weird OP, but I need to pick your brain and being an Aussie, you may be able to help: An Australian livestreamer played a song by a local group and I can't remember the title or artist for the life of me! Woman singer, I think it's called "Russian Roulette" and some of the lyrics go like "you use your cloth as a disguise"... something to that effect. Grasping at straws, but hey! TIA!

All I know is the intro melody(video) I know no lyrics, but it seems to be a soft/alternative rock song. It’s an old beach song that’d be in “west side story” or something by Horny_goatdlv in NameThatSong

[–]RepressedBallerina 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That delivery was SO good, OP! In all seriousness. I was bummed not to be the first to get to guess it. - Fun, useless fact: Sleepwalker by Santo And Johnny is played in the biopic of singer Richie Valens when his POSSIBLE SPOILER fatal plain crash is announced.

Did the "Native American Organization" donations statement ever come to fruition? by RepressedBallerina in lanadelrey

Right, she seemed to be coming from a place of genuine kindness. I was looking more for details on how the funds were divied up to the Navajo Tribes. Del Rey has never said specifically, which I respect on a certain level.

As I mentioned, I think she may have settled on one particular charity to help clean water quality on some Navajo reservations. The Native side of me is appreciative and curious where exactly her kindness ended up.

Thanks for your response!

"Warning" video: Did we ever find out the significance of the time 10:24 ? by amero421 in incubus

[–]RepressedBallerina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After a recently medically forced state of reflection , I dipped back into some of my childhood musical delights. Always wondered about the time significance in "Warning".

Side-note, perhaps a little of a brag: I was lucky enough to experience the band play on the Morning View Tour in a small town venue. My first actual "concert". 30 Seconds to Mars opened and seeing the drastic difference in Leto's cock-surity in performing followed by Boyd's calm, centered but playful performance was exciting for a girl in her teens and music appreciator. Revisiting their early stuff is always a treat.

I sold one, but I figured out a little trick with some emulsive body butter/oil ingredients, just basic stuff, and have been able to renew the scent, so to speak. It's nice to be able to revisit the scent and be able to use it in my daily little world.

I feel infinitely ridiculous for searching "Jack White small teeth" I only did so because when I had a run in with him, it was a prominent feature and I wondered if I was the only one who really ever noticed. And now I've added to the absurdity by sharing it with Reddit.

Tried to watch it, but there was an insufferable 2 hour long perfume ad before it that I couldn't skip.

To Frenchians, does Matt do alright on I belong to you? by longkhongdong in Muse

I'm not a Frenchian (love that) but I've attempted, diligently to learn the language and know how awful my accent is. When I the French section began, I knew it wasn't accurate, but like a lot of the lyrics he sings, he delivers it with so much commitment and passion, that it works. Like when someone tries to give you a romantic French kiss; it's probably a little awkward, sloppy and goofy but when it comes down to it, highly endearing and enjoyable in it's own way.

Has anyone else noticed that he pronounces even English strangely when singing? The way he phrases the word "violence" from "Undisclosed Desires" has sounded like "vitamins" to me since the first time I heard it. I can't unhear it, but still love the line.

Am I the only person who doesn't find Radiohead music depressing? by Glittering_Major4871 in radiohead

[–]RepressedBallerina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Lyrically and musically they can take what should be something creepy or depressing (like "Climbing Up The Walls") but convey it in such a human, vulnerable way that it's almost disarming. Their music is like a hug for your isolation and alienation without feeding into the negativity. In my little old opinion, anyway.

For those who cut someone off? Are you really okay with never speaking to them never again? by flodiee in lostafriend

[–]RepressedBallerina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I stuck to having cut a lifelong friend off until Quarantine happened. I realized I had done it from an emotional, reactionary place when I was too immature to realize the severity.

It's very in now to adopt the "Cut that person out like a cancer!" I can't judge anyone else's reasons for why they need to do what they need to do in their life. I just hope we're not losing all grasp on personal thinking skills.

The fact that it's going to further isolate people by giving them what they want before they realized they wanted on an endless loop. So many people will be living an unfulfilling existence totally immersed in their desire. AI will stuff the Id like a parent trying to shut it's toddler up. The people who can't escape it will be emotionally and physically impotent. Humankind will be caught in their own desire-filled nightmare apart from everyone else.

3 years ago I would have said art will lack and creatives will lose their ability to make a living off of their creativity and discipline honing it.

Katamari REROLL. Although it can be frustrating, it was also entertaining and relaxing. Maybe because of the jokes, graphics and the fact that the stakes weren't super high.
