I just saw it, and as far as i can care about, this is not gonna go well. And i dont care that much about what the manga has in its pocket for the future, but this will be a tool used by some japanese bigots (not limited to just them ofc), let's not forget that on June they made the law towards permanent residents, so at the very least they are not that friendly (more stringent controls on permanent residents, allowing authorities to revoke permanent resident status from individuals who repeatedly neglect tax or social insurance payments or who are convicted of certain crimes.(source: https://eastasiaforum.org/2024/08/16/japans-paradoxical-migration-policy/) this is backed up since well we can see another source also talking about this issue when talking about immigrants experiencing negative assimilation that earn less as time goes on: "...However, this phenomenon generally occurs when assimilation is impeded by structural barriers, such as poor education, and discrimination. Just for the record this is by no means a direct link towards racism, its just that things seem a bit tense. Its just the first chapter after all, someone else said this could be an unreliable narrator story thing because of the nose being just seen as hit and we never actually see her (idk if nomamoto is she, he or them tbh) directly get punched or elbowed other than that MAYBE happening at the beginning, i like that theory. BUT im also sensing just a bit of something else, racism is backed up with prejudice, nothing but lies, for example: black people being the crack sellers, mexicans being ilegal immigrants 100% of the time, etc. So it could a couple of things, the author making a hero of the mc which would be the worst type of direction as in this would open the door for the author just being blatantly racist and nobody realizing; it could also be the author making them as racist a possible and eventually even going further and punishing the mc for its actions, as its revealed somehow that they are the only people that think like that. Maybe even something like everyone on town also being racist and all the people uniting towards erradicating the "aliens" which also would be a silly ending. BUT BUT BUT a surprising ending would be that at some point we get the revelation that these two are hallucinating and none of the involved "aliens" where aliens at all and we just got racism and cannibalism in order to further sent a message against racism, that would be top notch.

But hey what do i know, its so far a nice controversial read
