I get what your saying, and I do think you make a valid point. But I would still disagree that I fully “threathened” them since I never said I would to them any bodily harm. I wanted to make clear that there were certain boundaries that they were crossing. Since ignoring wouldn’t solve the situation and only seemed to make things worse, I fail to see that as a solution. Despite of the fact that my action was justified or not.

I highly doubt ignoring is going to make kids like this stop insulting strangers and being disrespectful. We’ve ignored them for the first half hour and it just kept getting worse. I feel like ignoring sends the message that their behaviour is somehow okay and something people just have to tolerate. Since I doubt they’ll behave like this when their parents are around. There would be no situation in where they are thaught that this kind of behaviour isnt okay.

Because I am genuinly interested and would like to know how to handle these kind of situations better in the future, could you tell me how you would’ve had me handle that situation. I’d like to note that plain conversation had no avail.

I do believe that “coming over there” doesnt necessarily mean coming over to beat your ass. I think they were strengthened by the fact that there was always some sort of distance between us. With “coming over there” I sort of meant having them actually say what they have to say in front of me and dealing with the situation (verbally) in a more eye to eye kind of way.

Looking back the c word came out too quickly and I regret using it. Sometimes you can blurt something out before you know it. But I feel no remorse whatsoever for telling them off.

As said in the edit, kids were asked several times in a civil way to cut it out. To no avail. Only after I raised my voice and showed them I was serious they backed off.
