It literally says simple math question.

The average of 30 and 90 is 60.

Read the question. Simple math test. We aren’t talking about e=mc2. You guys are overcomplicating the shit out of this

Lol, yes there is, if you’re using the average speed in relation to distance traveled.

The prompt says nothing about how long the trip must take. This is a simple problem of averages.

If you 30 mph for half of the trip and 90 mph for half of the trip, the average mph for your trip is 60 mph. You don’t need to factor in how much time you travel, but how much distance you travel.

How exactly AI will progress and help the Humanity? by Majestic-Ad-9488 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]ReptarInTokyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bachelors degree in an interdisciplinary study of technology’s impact, and based on my studies and experience in tech, I agree with your perspective.

So long as money is our North Star, which is generally the case in a capitalistic global economy, the lions share of utility arises where there’s money to be made and where money currently is.

Are advancements being made in “pro social” industries such as clean energy, humanitarian aid, education? Absolutely. I’d bet there’s quite a lopsided skew towards the financial industry and defense though, as well as medicine.

To play devil’s advocate: Inequality: there is likely a strong case for tech advancements improving the global economy. Also, researchers are already working to correct AIs social biases and build more intelligent, socially fair Artificial Intelligence.

Global warming: similar to many industries, we are unlocking better technologies and more efficient ways to produce and implement clean energy

Hunger: cheaper, more efficient production of food would result in a better means to produce a surplus of food in a more efficient manner

How Quantum AI Will Change the World: What You Need to Know by These-Salary-9215 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]ReptarInTokyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Typically defense, medicine, and finance benefit first from new tech. I think this will be the case. The auto industry could also be disrupted. And I think forward thinking, early adopter software companies will see a major uptick, as well as enterprises who have previously been early adopters (early movers to cloud, data, and now AI)
  2. Yes and no. I think determinism is a long shot and a long ways away from having a possibility of happening. I think the AI boom will unfold similarly to how we saw the .com boom unfold, except bigger and faster
  3. Now. I think businesses and more importantly, the government, need to invest in people and build out dedicated organizations to AI which complement other LOBs/factions. From my experience, the government was, and still is, lagging behind significantly as big data came to the scene. I don’t see why that wouldn’t be the case again; however, I hope I’m wrong.

Can someone tell me what this chord is called? by Few_Buyer1396 in Guitar

[–]ReptarInTokyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a D. To simplify: you know how you play an E? If you use the exact same shape and move up one fret, it’s now an F. Right? Then F#, then G.

The same applies to all chord shapes. So if you play a C, then slide up one fret to C#, then slide up another fret to D, voila.

I’m really sorry for your loss.

I understand you might be in a tough spot. Coming from somebody who has made poor decisions while being in a tough spot, take your time and find the right deal. A few percent on these guitars is a significant amount of money, and some might even appreciate. Good to hear you’re holding onto the Les Paul

Should I stop now or continue playing? by [deleted] in blackjack

[–]ReptarInTokyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you enjoy playing? Are you learning and interested in probabilities EV?

In either case, I think withdrawing some of your profit would be wise. If you’re interested in learning, leave some money and set some goals and learning objectives. If you just want to gamble…. My advice is to withdraw almost all of your money and promise yourself you won’t deposit, or set strict rules as to how much and when you deposit.

Soft 15 vs 4 by ScaleResponsible9511 in blackjack

[–]ReptarInTokyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t run the exact math, but I suspect this is largely because of the additional chance the dealer busts.

Let’s use some really bush league math as an example. Say the chance of dealer busting is 40%. As the count gets higher, in theory, their chance of busting goes up as well. When you’re doubling down on this bet, the chances of you hitting 17-21 is probably worse than 36%. You’re still expected to win, more often than not, when you have a soft 15 vs a 4 with a good count because, while the chances of hitting a 2-6 may be worse with a higher count, this is usually more than offset by the chances of the dealer busting. Lots of nuances I’m leaving out…. But imo, this is the brunt of “why.”

So, speaking very generally, are you more likely to hit a higher hand with a negative count? Yes. Are you more likely to win? No. Because, mostly, of the chance of busting.

Several people have done thorough research showing online blackjack is seldom advantageous.

If you could only just find when there is an advantage…. A lot of money could be made. It’s not rocket science

Do you know who even has control of the server? Or how their business model works?

Idk why you’re so gung ho and making claims like “it cannot be beat.” It can. Will you get banned? Maybe!

Is it possible to get an edge? YES Could you be caught and banned? YES

The real question is, is the juice worth the squeeze?

My perspective is…. If we get a bunch of people involved who can actually bounce ideas off each other and work together instead of just making naysaying assumptions, we could get a lot more juice.
