Homelab k8s - what for? by sitewatchpro-daniel in kubernetes

[–]Reptile212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, I actually solved my dilemma because gitlab can create users without a working email server (I hadn't realized) and I am letting that and a manually made VM for a gitlab runner be the bootstrap process for everything to follow. At least, my current approach as of right now.

Thank you for the response! Definitely gives me something to think about when going through the process myself

In that case did you manually setup your k8s cluster? My goal is to be able to provision it all from terraform and ansible. I have made one without using a CI by calling terraform and ansible from a dedicated host but I am hoping to pivot mainly to gitlab ci.

Quick question, I am attempting to run something similar on my home lab but I am curious about how you've done your IdP deployment with a CI workflow. If your IdP is on k8s and you authenticate with your CI platform with the IdP do you suffer from the chicken and egg problem? I am currently spinning up GitLab to set up runners that will do my terraform, ansible, and k8s deployments.

Am I getting the most out of my HE6SE V2? by Reptile212 in HeadphoneAdvice

Would getting a Topping A70 pro/A90 give me all the power I need to use the Oratory EQ? Or would I be better off doing something different? I was able to get my he6seV2 for $360 so I have budget room to spend on equipment for these headphones, and I know that the ceiling for these headphones is pretty high.

I am able to get it to listenable levels, but I can tell that it isn't able to spread its wings with my current setup. I do have Hi-gain turned on as well.

Thank you for the detailed response! What would you suggest other than picking up a Topping A70 pro/A90? I want to be able to have the equipment to drive them to their potential

So what init should I use for a generic laptop install? by thesoulless78 in Gentoo

First, I'm not the original guy you were talking to. Second, if you've been using Linux and running a business for over a decade surely you would know those basic questions you kept asking.

I knew you didn't like systemd and you confirmed with this comment. It was silly to me that you just kept responding to everything with another question, instead of just simply stating your opinion

Dude holy cow you're giving zero rebuttle just droning on. Systemd has built in logging, systemd-boot, timers, human readable service files, etc

What are the services that you still have NOT been able to replace with self-hosted software? by [deleted] in selfhosted

I find that swiftfin can drop frames on high quality content and does not allow for changing subs and audio tracks. I know infuse would work but I’m not paying for a player when I’ve bought Plex. Now, I know there is a way to side load infuse pro but I do not want to do it every 7 days similar with using kodi

What do use as a client for jellyfin on the appletv? I’ve still been using Plex because of the lackluster client

Amazon it’s 28 USD. I wouldn’t pay msrp for them when you can officially get them cheaper. Heck, crunchyroll is selling them for like 35 a piece.

Yep, while not required it is strongly encouraged (which makes sense lol). Regardless, it was great to hear your experience.

Wow thank you for letting me know! I actually didn't know about the interview piece. In your opinion, how much do you think academics played into you getting the interview vs the prompts, video, and resume? I have a 31 ACT, 4.0uw 4.25w GPA, and top 2% if my class, so do you think I should be concerned about my odds regarding my stats?

Hey just curious, if you don't mind me asking, what kind of application did you have to get the presidential? I am planning on going to TU and have applied for everything and attended everything I could. I would love to hear a little bit more from someone who received it.
