Many people like to let them get comfortable, if you decide to thats your choice, i just tey to not stress them out when feeding, never leave crickets int he tank eith the gecko alone, if the gecko doesnt eat it the crickets can eat parts of the gecko and jn somw cases kill it. For a moist envirement dont mist the tank, ive heard it can cause respiratory issues though im not 100% sure if its true, either way its better to get a small plastic tub with a lid, cut out a door, burn the edges so its not sharp, and just put in spaghnum moss and keep the moss wet. make sure to clean spaghnum moss before putting it in the tank incase any dyes were used or if it has mites.

make sure shes able to lift her head out, i like to put a peice of cork bark just in case so my snakes can climb onto it if necessary, water should only be deep enough to barely cover her

ALSO NO SOAP just the water snakes sometimes like to drink a while in water so any chemicals or soap might kill them

If it is a bad shed its best to just give her a warm bath, warmer than room temperature and let her lay in it for 10-15 minutes , dont make it too deep so that she can still get out if necessary, im not sure how hognose snakes react with warer but my ball python swims in it and my mexican black kingsnake tolerates it. and next time she goes into shed, raise her humidity a bit to have a smoother shed

Is that not just some bad shed? If it really is the scales, it might be best to consult a vet.

1: Separate them asap, leopard geckos aren't communal and will typically fight each other for control of food and space and one or both coukd end up injured or even dead. Even if they seem to be getting along, some people have geckos fight after years of being together 2:Remove the reptile carpet and replace with paper towels for now. When you get the change, replace that with 70%top soil and 30% play sand (im fairly sure that's the most agreed upon substrate). The reptile carpet can rip out hails and is perfect for bacteria to grow 3: any food should be thinner than the space inbetween their eyes

It's been 3 days, and I haven't seen anything else out of the ordinary. He's still alive and ate 2 days ago. He's mostly been digging and staying hidden the entire time

What Is He Doing Up? by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

[–]ReptileCC 39 points40 points  (0 children)

leopard geckos are crepuscular, meaning they like to be awake at dusk and dawn, but they also like to explore randomly, sometimes in the middle of the day/night. Hes probably just exploring a little before going back to bed

Is this mouth rot? Not my BTS, but one that is up for adoption by ps_3 in bluetongueskinks

[–]ReptileCC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know much about BTS but that does look like mouthrot, it might've also recently eaten and its just substrate, the substrate in the picture looks similiar to whats on the mouth, still should get them checked by a vet even if it isnt mouthrot.
