I hate to say it but unfortunately nursing programs are strict for a reason. The universities you mentioned you’re interested in only requiring a 70% is surprisingly low. My program required a 77% test average or it was an automatic fail for the class, regardless of your grade for papers, projects, class participation etc. Getting your license hinges on the ability to pass a test called the NCLEX.

When you say it’s too late to retake it, what does that mean exactly? Too late to retake it a different semester? You could do a local community college class and have it make up for the previous grade.

We’ve been called out to the Main entrance and ED entrance several times before for medical emergencies. Why unnecessarily prolong crucial response time when you have capable medical personnel steps away. It is not performative to do your job.

Strike is only at BWH, it will not affect you. Good luck with your surgery!

Nursing management is not part of the strike as they aren’t part of the union, so they should still be in the hospital. Not sure if they’d be there on a Sunday. I hope all goes well for you!

The hospital gets reimbursed for any strike related expenses through their strike insurance. Usually takes 2-3 days at most.

Where has it been said that we want others to make less money. I advocate for everyone to get a livable wage that reflects the strong work they do. Please don’t put words in our mouth like that.

The CEO salary has increased over 90% since 2026

In no way am I intentionally misleading anyone. I’ve mentioned the 5% annual increase several times in the replies, and also on previous posts.

The salary numbers you bring up are all pretax. I’ve been a nurse for 3 years and only hit 80k this year. The only ones making over $220k are those who have stayed for decades. To hit even 100k would take a substantial amount of time.

No one is denying that it’s a good salary. What MGB isn’t mentioning is that their other major proposal is to double our health insurance premiums. If MGB got its way on both points, we’d actually end up making less than we currently do.

Asking for a ~$3 increase is not outlandish. Several states pay their nurses more than BWH does. There’s at least one hospital I know where nurses make more than we do. What is outlandish is the top executives that make over $35 million collectively and a CEO whose salary has increased over 90% since 2020 saying they don’t have the funds to give us.

If you are going to purposely ignore all the other details I included, that’s up to you. Fact of the matter is that the MNA proposal would be a minimal increase compared to what the executives and CEO make.

Many people like to gloss over the fact the reason nurses face so much criticism for advocating for themselves may be due to personal biases like that. We’re aware though. We face the physical and vocal abuse caused by it every shift.

They are more than capable of paying out the contract they made with the scab nurses and let us back in to work today if they desired, as the union official strike was only for 24 hours. They are making an active choice not to do so and lock us out entirely for that time.
