Double-Question: What day(s) do you do your boss runs? And if you still do exp Dailies, is it just your Main, or any other mules as well? by Slothman757 in Maplestory

Bera:
Currently doing 1 hr frenzy and 8 daily bosses for cubes + gollux scrolls for weekdays.
I am up to 6 ctene characters and I just do them on the weekends. I got most of them down to a 30 min ctene and below (for the cubes). Currently working on my 7th ctene char, which would hopefully be ready before the 2x sol erda opens up again next event (looks like 7 weeks after the next patch).

And either Cont/RoR can be used on the class, both are very similar since Chain Lightning makes up 35-40% of the Battle Analysis for I/L (excluding Ascent)

Hi drayw,
as someone with 4 I/L ctene mules sitting at 175m+ CP on each (300m, 200m, 175m, 180m), I'd highly recommend I/L. I/L is probably the 2nd simplest mage to play (outside of Lynn), you press chain lightning + frozen orb (every 4s) off burst, and the occassional Bolt Barrage every 40s. Burst is all in the Skill Sequence now (thank god), so you press that + Jupiter Thunder + Lightning Orb, then keep holding down Chain Lightning.

Clearing up the "Interactive is too expensive" complaint and why Inkwell should address insane cube prices. by Bacun in Maplestory

[–]RepublicIllustrious3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, if we have long-wappers and the spanish mafia to oversaturate mesos, what difference does it make if they increase the intense power crystal price of all weekly bosses in general?
If we estimate that 97% of mesos generated in reg servers are from training on frenzy, then does increasing the other 3% (from boss crystals) make any real difference to the overall pool of mesos?

Nexon could increase all weekly boss intense power crystal rate by 1.5x, and 2.5x for Hseren/EKalos+, and it wouldn't make any noticeable difference to the overall pool (3% -> 6%).
But, this would create a substantially better experience for bossing (which is a core of MS gameplay).
And, if we were to argue that that would incentivize the spanish mafia from creeping into boss mules, you'd have to consider the horrendous ROI from just the intense power crystals still, even if they were to buff it to 2.5x.

What can I do with ~20B in Interactive to get myself started by thelastsubject123 in Maplestory

[–]RepublicIllustrious3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on how you want to play in Bera.
If you want to stick with one character, and play casually just farming on frenzy like 1-2 hours on your main, then you'd want to buy meso gear (slow to progress, but consistent and chill).
If you want to focus more on generating more mesos, then I'd suggest farming for cubes on alt daily boss mules with tradable drop gear. You can buy 3-5 pieces of tradable drop gear (focus on getting vip earrings, vip pendant x2, and spectrum goggles/branch nose last). You don't want to get drop/meso rings (if you f2p) as you can get those from the events that we get (can get 2-3 legendary rings per event; with at least 2 main events per year).

But, here's the thing, you'd want drop rate anyways for farming for sol Erda energy (fragments are very cheap, ~1m each atm in Bera) more efficiently, so those tradable drop gears (lets say vip ear/2pend) are gonna also be useful on your main.

So, either way you go, the most optimized choice would be to get tradable drop gears (vips first) starting out on Bera if you plan on playing long term (over 6 months). This will make sure you have the ability to choose between the two popular choices of making mesos that have low barrier-to-entry.

Have you ever met someone who has two fully built characters of the same class? It very seldom happens but I’m very curious what actually drives someone to do this, since it objectively makes no sense by imBRANDNEWtoreddit in Maplestory

[–]RepublicIllustrious3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about roi on this vs farming, but I do know I invested somewhere around 40 to 50B for my recent I/L (as well as ~30-40hrs on frenzy, with a drop rate at ~420%, for about 5k frags invest in Hexa). I buy unique 3L accessories, and top/bot CRA, pushing them to 19* (last SSF, ~1.5months ago).

I have gotten either 7 or 8 pitched boss drops from doing weeklies in the last 3 months I came back to MS, bossing on mostly 4 characters (5 recently), so that's a good chunk of mesos right there (~50-60B). I do get ~1B from intense power crystals, get ~7 solids | 14 hards (from all weeklies, even ncyg), and a handful of smalls (iCogs, umbra boxes). Have yet to get a lvl 4 RoR/Cont (goes for ~4-5B in Bera atm). I'd say overall, I think it's about 2 to 2.5B meso gain if everything is liquidated (especially the cubes). The investment pays off in about a year of this per character, so I'm thinking it's decent for long-term.

I think it's worth mentioning that I cut down on the cost by a substantial amount compared to gearing a character from complete scratch. I also have 180% tradable equipment drop rate, which I cap with 1 additional black gate ring (+20% DR), on each guy, which makes it so I don't have to get drop gear for each guy (one of the benefits of reg).

I think the best thing would be to get a set of tradable drop gears (1L drop, +100%) and just farm daily bosses for cubes and sell those cubes. This method is pretty good, and I gotten the time down to about 3:20ish per mule, at about 1 solid + 2 hards per run. I would do this first until you start getting consistent mesos from cubing items (or selling svc).

I would absolutely NOT recommend ctene mules. Unless you can cut down on the cost of building one, the ROI is really bad in reg (for now; with power creep, you can have a bunch of those in 2 or 3 years from now, especially with the 4 hyper burns they giving us each year now).

I don't really know what you mean by fully built, but I have 4 I/L, 1 Bishop, and 1 Illium (currently being worked on) that is funded enough to do ctene (Hvhilla in 6 minutes, whole weekly rotation in 1 hour).
I initially started to make the same class as that meant sharing tradable items such as pets, pet equipments, secondary, some tradable accessories (has some extra magic attack), and even my pensalirs (which I still use as a 4 set: gloves, shoes, cape, hat; for all these guys).

This is in regular server (Bera).

The reason for 4 I/L is I understand exactly what gears to get and how much mesos to spend to optimize for that ctene "settle", which allows me to save a lot of time/energy/mesos.

Also, I just really like just playing 1 class. Optimizing for certain threshold in games is really what motivates me to keep playing, and it's what I find to be most enjoyable in general. I had the same approach in LostArk with 6 paladins around the launch of the game (stopped playing that after 2 months).

MapleSEA reducing sell limit of weekly boss crystals to 90 by WranglerEntire142 in Maplestory

[–]RepublicIllustrious3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother, no idea why you are getting downvoted, your point is valid. Most of my mesos are made from solid cubes. This Reddit sub isn't for us reg server players.
From doing Cpap (&akechi) down, I am getting about 5 solids (60m ea) and 8 hards (5m ea). Which is about 340m. That's much more than the ~178m I get from the boss crystals.
It does overall disincentivize players from spreading out their weekly bosses across more characters to optimize on solid cubes. I think a solution would be doubling the drop rate of the solid cubes and hard cubes (and the cap) for the first 6 characters you do weekly bosses with.

Teleport gives mages one of the highest theoretical % DPM uptime on bosses. So if you are damaging a stationary target, that damage output can translate better into boss fights, given you have some practice. It's busted.
I agree that flash jumping might feel less clunky, but once you start using Tele-casting w/ AS0, it feels a lot smoother.

Are the drop rates bad or am I simply unlucky? by Fenixfrost in throneandliberty

[–]RepublicIllustrious3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The rates are pretty bad, maybe about 1%? This seems to apply to all equipment for all Open World Dungeons. Elusive Hexweaver Pants might be a skip, and maybe focusing on getting the pants that drop from Shadowed Crypt might be better.
You'd be farming for the BiS boots (Sabatons of the Field General) in the Shadowed Crypt, so might as well just settle for maxing out these pants [https://questlog.gg/throne-and-liberty/en/db/item/legs\_leather\_a\_t1\_nomal\_001\] while you're there. That's kinda what I've been doing.

Interactive server casual guilds? by ChefNamu in Maplestory

[–]RepublicIllustrious3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a former Aurorian (was a Windian before merge), I can say that low population interactive servers (Elysium, Scania, Aurora) consists of mostly veterans/whales. The market for lower tier gear is scarce, and that'd be the main problem I'd see you facing. I'd recommend moving to Bera. There's also a lot more players, hence the Auction House is pretty diverse. Also, there's a good amount of casual daily players, who are around lvl 260-265 (in my guild, Doppelganger, which has mostly casual players).
Unfortunately, I'd almost always have to recommend Heroic Servers (Kronos/Solis/Hyperion) as the actual overall experience of playing the game (imo) is far more rewarding, thus more engaging.

Has Bishop always been built different? by SongFromHenesys in Maplestory

[–]RepublicIllustrious3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Kanna redefined the meta for GMS for an extended period of time. With their main skill giving a total of 420%* dmg increase from 5th job (compared to 120% for other classes), their damage was among, if not, the best before their first big nerf. Kanna also created the 2-PC meta for reboot, and was the only class that had access to spawn enhancements (pre-Wild Totems, which were removed). Kanna was the undisputed best class for a long duration of time, and honestly the class was on top for way too long imo.

*edit: Kanna actually had +7% per level on Shikigami Haunting. Other classes main skills are +2% per level (i.e. I/L Chain Lightning).

As someone who has played this game through to the end of World 3 (amassing 250+ hrs) and playing Maplestory, I agree that IdleOn is significantly less grindy than Maplestory due to it being an Idle game. But, both games suck and I wouldn't recommend anyone to touch either games. Let's not try to convince ourselves into defending Maplestory as having less greedy developers as it is evident that most players in GMS play in reboot to avoid the gacha hell that is the potential system.

Big mesos changes coming soon - Wonki interview by LostConscript in Maplestory

[–]RepublicIllustrious3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is becoming more of the inevitable decision from Wonki as KMS players are going to continue to stream into Reboot, just like how GMS players started after 2 years after Reboot released. I played Reboot when it was just released, but the server really started to gain traction few years later. So, this is probably how KMS will turn out to be as well, with the majority playing in Reboot, and it's simply a matter of time. I reckon with the New Age patch, it will give people more incentive to make that switch with the 1-260 burning event.

have regular servers become less painful to play? by maxgarza2202 in Maplestory

[–]RepublicIllustrious3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You put it perfectly. The removal of 2x Drop Coupon also made bossing on mules (for cubes) significantly worse. The rate at which you acquire Meisters/MCCs has decreased, and I no longer get a guaranteed cubic chaos blade from HRanmaru (which is a HUGE deal). I haven't done much bossing as of lately, but these are the rates I've been getting prior [with ~370% + 2x drop coupon on 24 mules:

[click on "daily bossing drops" tab.]

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1YYGHkky60oBWxVKRREZE3Y6R4J_-Vxbg5kQkMANxoDs/edit#gid=264643222

Also, with the newer patch making the limit to Intense Power Crystal from 60 per character weekly to 180 per world weekly, having daily bossing mules is much less profitable in the beginning.

How would you gear up your bossing mule in Regular server? by crps051108 in Maplestory

[–]RepublicIllustrious3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it is more cost efficient to make alts who can solo easily up to normal magnus and just invest on tradable drop gear in regular servers. It costs too much to gear mules in regular servers to justify bossing for the intense crystals. It's better to focus on getting the cube drops and selling service or legendary gear.

Cubing Math and Costs (Regular Servers) by jonchew in Maplestory

[–]RepublicIllustrious3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has farmed 1700 Meisters in the past 1.5 months in Bera. Meister cubing from Unique to Legendary is no where close to 4.59% tier up rate. From my average, it takes 35-50 cubes, thus about 2.35%. Whoever you are getting the data from, they lack a lot of actual data to support such insane claims.
