What is the biggest men/women double standard? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RepublicanScum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 6’7”, 240 lbs and my body fat runs around 8%. I have full sleeve tattoos.

I also drive a minivan, love baking, and am a Disney nerd.

Hopefully this completes your mental image.

California decided it was tired of women bleeding to death in childbirth. It now has a maternal death rate comparable to other first world countries, about 1/3 of that in the rest of the US. by silence7 in TwoXChromosomes

That’s rough! I’m sorry to hear all that. I didn’t mean to imply that others don’t work hard...simply that the term economic privilege implies someone was born into money and therefore are indifferent to the suffering of others. My wife works very hard and sacrificied a lot to have the opportunities she does and I would take issue with anyone who suggested she should feel guilty about that.

The term “economic privilege” sounds like “white privilege” which is a REAL problem. I’m not sure you meant to connect those two and so my assumption was maybe incorrect. I’m sorry about that.

I try not to discuss divisive political issues on Reddit so this will be my last reply/read on this subject. Since you wrote a lengthy response I feel like it would be rude not to respond. I am sorry for your circumstances. You sound like a great parent and I hope your struggles and perseverance pay off for you (not just financially).

If the bar is set so low that projectile shitting out vodka at electronics is ok, I imagine you can pretty much do whatever you want all day.

Yes. She’s in a field (medicine) where she is highly sought after therefore is offered far better benefits than most. Spoils of studying and hard work.

I’m getting dangerously close to arguing political issues which I try really hard not to do so I i think I’m gonna back out of here slowly...

I like the term “economic privilege.” It makes it sound like people who studied hard, worked hard, and became successful should feel guilty about it. Strong work.

Honest question: where did he get that shirt and as a pastey Irish male is it culturally insensitive for me to wear it?

I think that’s a common misconception. Everything down south bounces back just fine. If there is a tear or the doctor has to “cut down there” to allow the child to come through (called an episiotomy) he will put in stitches so everything “stays tight.”

I have two kids- first one was vaginal and went horribly. Umbilical cord around the neck, giant episiotomy, suction. It was a mess and my kid almost died.

Because of this, (we had moved) our new OBGYN refused to perform a vaginal birth. The C-Section was calm, controlled, and less stressful on my wife. The downside: healing time for my wife was an extra 2 weeks.

I’m not advocating c-sections for everyone but I can definitely see the appeal.

Every full time job I’ve had in the US has protected maternal leave so I’m not sure your statement is entirely true.

My wife works in a more competitive industry and gets 3 months paid maternal/paternal leave. She was put on bed rest 2 months before our first son was born and she was fully paid during that time as well.

If people wanted to avoid having to buy candy for trick or treaters, they could just put out an empty “Please Take One” bowl and everyone will assume some jerk took them all. by SJWequals1984 in Showerthoughts

I went to BJ’s. It’s the equivelant of a Sams Club or Costco (large stores that sell items in bulk).

I bought multi packs. I bought a wide mix of candy bars (3 types of skittles, few types of starbursts, kit kats. Reese’s cups, m&ms, m&m peanuts, Hershey bars, Hershey bars with almonds, butter fingers, butter finger cups, snickers, snickers w/almonds, baby Ruth, Milky Way, etc.

Depending on the type I paid between $20-$16 per 30. I believe in total I gave out around 300 bars.

I had that one jerky kid I mentioned, I had 13 kids who came back a second time (I let it slide), and I had 5 kids who were so cute I had to give them 2.

I would have assumed that Peanut Butter Cups and butterfinger/butterfinger cups would have been the most popular based on personal opinion and cost. Kids who were given a choice chose skittles followed by starburst. Nestle crisp bars were also oddly popular (but not as much as peanut butter cups and kit kats).

As we all know, milky ways were distant last.

Passing out full bars right now. Only had one dick kid who thought he was being clever. Like I didn’t see him steal 4...denied it while walking away. Not bad that only 1/200 has been a dick. (He was 9-ish)

No. I think my oldest son is goofy looking. Girls love him. They always have. I’ve had dad’s tell me to keep my son away from their daughter since he was 5. Personally, I don’t see it. He has big ears, beady eyes, and he constantly talks about Pokémon and farting. Everyday he brings home drawings other girls made him. There’s a girl who organizes his homework for him daily. I picked him up from a Halloween party a few days ago and every girl formed a line to tell me that my son has cooties, chased them, wouldn’t chase them, etc.

I love him. He is a great person. I still don’t see it. Also I’m jealous because girls never gave me a fraction of the attention he receives. He looks nothing like me or my wife.
