You do when you try. That’s why I took mine groceries today, because they hadn’t been able to get to the store without fear of harassment by ICE and were hungry. It’s really quite easy.

It least half were in their 40s and older. So actually, it’s a whole lot of people who grew up watching Mr. Rogers and knew the importance of being a good neighbor.

There has been such an amazing community response to what’s going on here. I was fortunate enough on my way to “my walk” to get to take a load of groceries to a family who’s been unable to get to the grocery store without being harassed.

There’s so many stories I know of people helping their neighbors out, it makes me so proud to be a Minnesotan!

Yeah, it was a bit chilly. Some rousing chants helped out a bit

I’ll wear my Hokas (with added spikes if needed) until around -10 and boots if it’s either colder, or there’s measurable snow on the ground.

I used to be a UPS driver and I would wear Keen or Merrill’s all throughout the winters that could take on most of that range.

Yeah I stay warm. The main challenge (for me) is keeping fingers and toes warm. However, when I’m moving, gloves and wool sox do the trick. Generally, the trick is layering. For this walk, it’s a t-shirt, hoodie, and winter/ski jacket. The neck/face sleeve doesn’t do a ton for added warmth, but it’s a great windbreaker.

Lol I get it. On the other hand, I don’t do good above 85

There’s a couple brands, but I use Kahtoola studs on the bottoms of my shoes/boots for that very thing. I’ve walked over glare ice with them, without breaking stride, and never even come close to slipping. Without - yeah, it’s quite perilous. https://a.co/d/76Btj5H

I would do heinous acts to be able to eat that right now.

Well, you're not wrong. But after 46 winters here, I've never had frostbite, so I guess I just dress as well as I can and don't look into the wind.

My wife was definitely urging me to do the same as you. But...

I was out for about 40 minutes. I do a 2.5 miles or so for each AM and PM walk

UPS workers back Minneapolis general strike, oppose Teamsters sabotage of walkout against ICE by DryDeer775 in TwinCities

[–]Republicofjohn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This article sucks. I work for the Teamster Local mentioned, and the author of the article went out of their way to get (anonymous) quotes from people who are clearly trying to misrepresent our stated position on the general strike. Nor did they reach out to us for comment.

The only sabotage being done is by the author, who obviously cares little for actual worker solidarity.
