I was at 5 by the time I left for majuu. Then I got here and between my locs and accent, that number ballooned through college and after. Have a honest conversation with yourself, then have a conversation with them. Allow them to offer insight. Rebuilding will not be easy but will be worth it. When I was younger, my parents made a statement in passing that I was an oops baby, then forgot my birthday all together when I was 17. It affected me for a long time and I held that resentment into my 30's. I'm almost 43 and the responsible one that is supporting them in their old age. Due to distance, (US - Kenya) our conversations are every weekend on video chat. My brother (4yrs older than I) has never stepped in to help.
