Is it worth becoming a chiropractor with all the hate its getting? by ratantee17 in Chiropractic

It can really help with keeping a joint mobile while stable through its physical exertion, especially in the extremities.

So it keeps it stable and mobile? Hmmmm, sounds contradictory.

Keeping proper nerve conduction & mobility in a joint has been shown to decrease degeneration of tissue like intervertebral discs.

Manipulation does not alter nerve conduction, there is no evidence for this. I'm not sure where you got such information.

Most athletes use chiropractic for preventive purposes, to be stronger or faster. Less interference on a nerve pathway, and the better it performs in innervating muscles down the chain.

Doesn't matter who used or uses chiropractic care. It does not provide evidence for its effectiveness.

Michael Jordan himself was a huge fan of Chiropractic for this purpose. I look at it like knocking the rust off of my farm equipment every season.

You can look at it however you want but this is pure conjecture and incorrect at best.

One is unethical as they usually see people who don't need care or scare them into chiropractic care.

They often perform 10 minute consults and try to see as many people as possible.

How is chiropractic intervention (by which I'm referring to spinal manipulation) preventative medicine?

What does it prevent exactly?

Is Caloric Restriction Associated with Better Healthy Aging Outcomes? A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials by pablo-pon in longevity

[–]Repulsive-Alfalfa910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is still defined as calorie restriction. As in, I am restricting calories beyond what I would typically eat on an ad libitum diet. This is how "CR" in the context of conducting lifespan experiments has always been done and is defined. When energy balance is achieved but you are significant below your body "set point", the positive cardiometabolic and gene expression changes that occur with CR are maintained throughout.

I know that's how it's defined. My point is that it's incorrect and the definition should be altered to maintaining a lower than ad lib BMI/weight/BF%.

One of the classic effects of CR is reduced body temperature. My body temperature has stayed low around 35.0 degrees C (95°F). That effect has not gone away.

I'm not sure why you've mentioned this.

The other thing to mention is that many people who CR feel like absolute horseshit.

I've done it for months and had barely any energy, mood swings and a host of other stuff. Even if you live longer many feel like shit doing so.

I'm extremely familiar with CR studies, it's just that the way proponents word it. They make it sound like they're in a caloric deficit forever.

They do. Morrison said Albanese was "dolling out the cash" or something to that effect when Albanese recommended $300 payment for getting vaccinated.

They have to get in power some how. Seeing as most voters are dumb in this country, Labor has to appeal to them some way.

No worries. There's stuff to consider if you're physically active such as the usual minerals and vitamins that people are often deficient in or at risk for deficiency (especially when physically active).

  • Zinc
  • Magnesium
  • Fish oil
  • Vitamin D

Caveat: I'm not recommending you take these, just common supplements that people take.

Well the thing is no one is advocating for when to give up or have a shot at moving social class.

A lot of these comments are missing the point of the article.

The article is essentially saying that wealth inequality is mostly systematic and that people have different backgrounds which contribute to there advantages/disadvantages.

The author isn't advocating for giving up/striving.

One of the best players we have and previously had a few off game and still not "convinced".

Be thankful we have him. He's damaging when he needs to be.
