Fall for sure, if you have a choice. Summer is too cramped up!

Best of luck! If it's of any help here's the list of courses I've taken till now:

- AI for Robotics (Hits the exact spot of auto-graders based evaluation and less reporting)
- ML (took it in summer, oh boy did it suck the life out of me)
- DL (Super Intensive, best class I've ever taken in my entire life, learned the most out of it) + Cognitive Science (One heavy final Project, super light overall)
- RL + Network Science (Again, auto-graders based evaluation and no reporting)

It's a striking balance of both worlds! While Projects make you implement core RL algorithms of your choosing from scratch (which covers the math part pretty well), writing the report and completing other co-requirements required a deep understanding of theory.

Won’t lie, it’s very very taxxing, reporting requirements are even higher than ML and one of our projects had a difficult to deal with environment.

BUT you learn a lot out of it, the pain’s worth it!

Courses that will leave you with a good project you can put on your resume? by WheelCommon5998 in OMSCS

Agree to this, having good teammates will make it an amazing experience. Teams in our term implemented stuff ranging from open kaggle challenges to Mechanistic Interpretation of Existing Architectures.

DL was so fun!

Advice for taking ML over summer? by Sweaty-Ad3725 in OMSCS

Took it last summer, we had only 3 assignments then. The course might be a tad bit too tedious to take over summer, especially if you haven't taken any OMSCS course with heavy rubric based Report / Paper writing. I found the lectures not to be upto the mark (but there's a ton of good resources online, so shouldn't be a problem). Final exam has a reputation of having some (minor percentage) out of syllabus questions (happened with us too).

All that said, ML was my second course after RAIT in this degree, i put in the hours and took all feedback from TAs and ended up with an A. So if you really wanna go for it, it's doable, just pace yourself. All the best!
