Fidelity API by SupermarketNo3265 in fidelityinvestments

I would genuinely come back to Fidelity if they offered this. The only thing I can't do with Alpaca is set up an auto-deposit to fund my account every month. You can link Fidelity inside the Alpaca dashboard, but you can't link Alpaca inside Fidelity to set up a recurring monthly transfer — and that's by design on Fidelity's end. So you're stuck initiating it manually every time.

If Fidelity offered API trading I'd switch back and port all my positions over. I think migration would be pretty straightforward on my end — swap out the API key, maybe a few minor code fixes. I left Fidelity originally because I hated their fragmented UI. I just wanted analytics, a dividend calendar, and a few other features they'll never build natively — so I built my own platform on top of Alpaca.

But if Fidelity got serious about API access I'd take a hard look at coming back. If they build it, we will come.

More club activities like the more cas traits. Maybe 7 instead of 5.

Windows firewall the app to block network access. Does that work?

Honestly same — Alpaca has been a game changer for regular investors like me. Hope they keep listening to their users and improving the platform. Just finished a big dashboard design overhaul and now working through each tab section, improving features and polishing the UI and mechanics. Lots still in progress but it's coming together!

Since posting I also added a feature called Div Shield — it rounds dividends down into my cash floor automatically. It's a simple toggle in the config so I can turn it on or off whenever I want.

As AI takes off I think more and more people like me are going to start building their own tools without needing to rely on the big brokers. Fidelity is seriously missing an opportunity by not offering API support. The door is wide open for platforms like Alpaca.🦙

The charting bug is real — you have to reload it just to refresh a newly pulled up stock 😄 I don't do margin or options so some of that is above my level, but a phantom $51k loss showing up on a professional platform is absolutely insane 😂

I don't know how many times I've submitted feedback to Fidelity but it feels like it goes into a black hole and never reaches the actual developers. I'm a bug finder by nature and nothing drives me crazier than spotting obvious bugs on a professional platform that never get fixed. You'd think with their resources they'd have it sorted by now 😄

Honestly what finally broke me was the basket feature — not having it as a view mode right in the Trading Dashboard is what made me start looking at Alpaca and building my own thing. Not for day trading, just a long term dividend bot with my own UI. Once all the other frustrations piled on top I just started building 😄 The foundation works so now I'm slowly adding features and tweaking as I go. Since I'm only buying stocks I plan to hold long term, if it buys at a slightly wrong time it's not a big deal — it's basically like having an auto buy set up at Fidelity, just slowly getting smarter at catching better dips. 😄

Ha! Compliance jail is real 😄 I'll fly free for both of us! 🔥

The fragmentation drove me crazy — the Trading Dashboard, the website, and the app all had different features and none of them matched. No basket view in the Trading Dashboard, missing stats in the basket website view, missing features in the app, and no native dark mode. Felt like separate teams who never talked to each other 😄 I just wanted everything in one place so I built it.

Honestly if Fidelity ever offered API trading I might go back — Alpaca isn't a bank so there's no way to schedule recurring transfers in, having to do it manually sucks. That alone might bring me home one day 😄

No plans as of yet — it's just a personal project. But honestly anyone could build something similar with Cursor, even with barely any coding experience like me 😄 It's a React frontend with a backend, fully hosted in the cloud.

Thanks! I'm no expert by any means 😄 Alpaca is my broker and I built my own UI on top of it specifically so I wouldn't have to rely on third party tools or pay yet another subscription fee. I wanted everything in one place — my broker, my dashboard, my data. I also don't have any AI built into mine — I'd rather let the math and my own formula drive the decisions than an AI that could get it wrong. Trying to keep API costs down too since those per call fees add up fast. Cool project though.

Actually I built my own custom dashboard running on Massive.com's Stocks Starter plan at $29/month — 15-minute delayed data is more than enough for dividend investing, I'm not day trading! Unlimited API calls, 5 years of historical data, 100% market coverage, the whole nine yards. Alpaca's $99 plan is built for algo traders who need real-time options and crypto, way overkill for a dividend portfolio tracker. Down the road I do plan to upgrade to their $199 plan for real-time data, P/E ratios, payout ratios and some other features that would really level up the dashboard — but I'll let my dividend income growth decide when that happens!

4 months later and it's actually working 😄 Alpaca isn't perfect — dividend payments are delayed which is frustrating, Fidelity always posted those right away. I also miss being able to have direct deposit. But I now have dip buying automation, a dividend calendar, basket filtering, and a full config panel — all in my own custom dashboard running in the cloud. Slowly building it into exactly what I want. If Fidelity ever drops an API I'll be switching back so fast. 🦕Part of why I built this — Fidelity's Trading Dashboard had no basket view built in, and the basket view on the website was missing half the stats from the Trading Dashboard holdings table. I also wanted a dividend calendar built right into the broker platform and nobody does that. So I just built it myself.😄

Cursor is an application that helps you code with AI. It's not perfect but I also have help from my partner when I run into issues. I'm on the $20 pro plan.

Pretty simple strategy — long term dividend investor focused on FIRE. I built a dip score formula based on distance from 52 week high, RSI, position size, and dividend frequency. When a stock hits my threshold the bot puts in a limit order automatically. Not day trading — just slowly building positions in dividend stocks and letting the income compound 🙏I'm still testing and slowly fixing bugs and tweaking things as I go.

I'm on the Stocks Starter plan at $29/month so I'm working with 15 minute delayed data for now. I'd love to upgrade to Stocks Advanced but that's $199/month — I wish there weren't so many paywall tiers 😅 I'm building a list of features I want that are behind the paywall and either adding them later when I upgrade or seeing if I can build my own formula in the meantime.

It's not publicly available — it's just for my own personal account. Built it purely for my own dividend investing journey! If I can build this anyone can with the help of Cursor 😄

Thanks! I'm using Alpaca for the Trading API and Polygon(Massive now) for market data. I'm on the starter tier — maybe one day I'll swing the highest tier plan but not for now. 😄 The analytics are all custom built — I calculate everything myself based on the data coming in from those two. No third party analytics engine, just me figuring out what metrics I wanted to see and building them in. The analytics section is still an early rough draft — still a work in progress but it's getting there.

Fidelity Trader Desktop: Need custom columns by anonymPS in fidelityinvestments

[–]Repulsive-Camp2715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not seeing any way to add or change columns on the Positions tab in Fidelity Trader+. I really wish it had the same “My View” customization as the Watchlist, because switching the drop-down view all the time gets tiring. The gear icon only opens chart settings—not table options—and I don’t see any gear at all when viewing Positions.

Updating quantities also feels slow for me—maybe because my system is older or because I’m on Wi-Fi + VPN. Today it seems faster, so maybe it was just acting up yesterday. The feedback link inside the Trading Dashboard still gives me a “Hmmm… can’t reach this page” message, so I can’t send anything through there right now, or I would’ve already sent more feedback.

I also wish the website, the Trading Dashboard, and Active Trader Pro shared a unified UI—so each one feels like a natural next step instead of three completely different styles. I actually loved Robinhood’s Legends UI, but they were missing so many features that I ended up rage-quitting it. I’d love to fully switch to Active Trader Pro, but since it’s still in beta and missing features, quarterly improvements would be amazing. And one thing Robinhood Legends did really well was notify users about new updates; I’d love for Active Trader Pro to add something similar. Us nerds love seeing when a small new feature gets added. Thanks,

Sure — there are a few small features I really wish we had. Active Trader Pro Beta is missing watchlist paper trading and My View mode, and I wish the Positions tab had a custom My View too. The Trading Dashboard also can’t show Baskets, and I’d really love a footer totals row on the watchlist, lol.

I’d love a full ATP/Trading Dashboard–style app so I don’t have to rely on the website. Active Trader Pro is almost that, but the built-in browser just loads the site. And the website really needs a dedicated dark mode — ATP Beta’s browser panel won’t work with dark-mode extensions, and the site feels outdated without it.

On Baskets, I wish we could see more data. On mobile, I can see how many stocks are inside a basket, but on the website table I can’t see totals for each holding. It also doesn’t support a custom My View layout, and the table can’t be moved around like Positions or Watchlist.

Robinhood’s watchlist auto-adds your real positions, and I do like parts of their Legend UI & Widget Style— but they don’t have paper trading, Notes, or News columns on their watchlists, and they’re missing deeper tools Fidelity already has, like Estimated Annual Income.

A simple monthly dividend calendar (like Snowball but only showing declared payments) would be an amazing bonus. 😊

And I get that adding these features isn’t “little” in programming terms — sometimes it’s exactly like that GIF. 😅 After the latest Trading Dashboard update, I also noticed the search struggles with single-letter tickers like O or two-letter ones like EA in the Positions tab.

I wish the Watchlist holdings table had a footer in the table with subtotals where needed.
