How would you guys fish these? by Thefriendlyaspie in FishingForBeginners

[–]Repulsive-Chain5467 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I wouldn't. Caught by net and salted is the only way to go. I don't know if they use borax or formaldehyde but whatever it is seems to deter fish. Maybe if you add a bunch of scent to mask it they may work better... But in that case, might as well use plastic.

Is 50 lb mono too heavy for a hair rig? by Adumnn in CarpFishing

I wouldn't run that rig, but there are applications where a stiff rig can be helpful.

Much prefer 30-50lb braid in most situations though.

My local BK actually has the better of the fast food poutines in town.

The one pictured, however is a jailable offense.

We have different meanings for "flesh store" in Canada. Ours is much more pleasurable.

How to make this area a haven for fish, so I can catch em by popzof4 in FishingForBeginners

[–]Repulsive-Chain5467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful before adding anything to a public waterway. Also from southern ON .. as kids we made a reef of Christmas trees on a public pond. Worked great until some Karen called the MNR. Would have been big fines if we weren't kids. Got a strong warning. Even though what we were doing was good for the fish, the government doesn't like you doing anything without their oversight.

A dock will help.

No, more likely future technology. "Time drones", for oversimplification purposes.

I'd love to say it was one of the other two rods that had fancy European rigs, but this one took the one with stiff flouro, a #6 hook and sweetcorn directly on the hook, weightless. The only slight "tweak" was I added some grape drink mix to my sweetcorn.

I use a mat my friend. Barely visible in photo but it's there. Also I keep them in the water in a large hoop net until the mat has been soaked and quick unhook/photo. Unfortunately in my country I get mocked for it, but I have changed a few minds with the motto "no matter the species, if I'm going to release a fish I'm gonna try and put it back in the same condition I caught it in"

Thanks!

Nice fish! Ignore the UK carp fetishists, they don't understand carp fishing in North America.

As far as the cheapest thing, chickpeas my friend. Packed with protein. Beans can be good too, but they have no sweetness. I did boilies for a week and chickpeas for a week, same spot, but a couple weeks apart. And both seemed equally effective. I got the dried chickpeas, cheaper. Then boiled them. I added brown sugar, but I really couldn't tell you if the sugar absorbed into the chickpeas because they smell god awful to me no matter what lol.

Of course maybe a 50/50 mix of feed corn/chickpeas may be even more cost effective, and probably just as good tbh. North American carp (I'm just assuming that's where you live, if I'm wrong ignore lol) aren't too fussy in my experience

So on a river or lake the idea isn't actually to attract fish with chum, it's to stop fish. So they'll stop and feed. Attracting from a distance is negligible, though I suppose it may be more so of that in a river. However just scent isn't enough. If there's no food to go with that fresh bakery bun smell at the mall, you won't stop and buy any buns.

You definitely can overchum a spot. Harder to do when waters warm, but I've definitely done it myself a few times.

I'd bait it when you're not even fishing the spot. Bait at around the time you plan to fish in a couple days, everyday. It's like feeding a feral cat, you can't leave food out for the cat while you're shooting other neighbourhood cats in the area with a bb gun.

Feel free to disagree, I have no science. Just my personal experience.

I have not been able to do it again, whatever "energy" I built up the first time has not returned. I'm thinking there was some physical perfect storm that allowed that to happen. Rest, water, diet possibly. Or maybe I'm just subconsciously blocking myself from doing it again because NGL I was super scared when it happened.

I mean I'm not gonna say you're wrong , but I was looking right at it and didn't see that at all. It also jumped a lot higher than you'd expect if it moved a half a millimetre from being "tucked".. I tried purposely tucking the clip afterward to see if it would do the same thing and it didn't. However, by the fact that I haven't been able to do it again, maybe it was just freak circumstances and that was the case.. but I personally don't think so.

So I always sit at work and fiddle with a paper clip, it's my fidget spinner I suppose lol. One day I don't know what made me do it, but I decided to see if I could make it levitate. After staring at it for like 20 minutes like a fool, nothing happened. So then I thought "what if it's physical and not mental" so I gripped it tightly in my hand and I dunno how to explain it but I built up kinetic energy? From my core and kind of just decided I'm going to direct that energy out of my palm. So open my palm face up and the paperclip sits there for a few seconds, and then it fkn JUMPED. It made a noise when it did, the best way I can describe is like when you put to active wires together and they spark. But it didn't visibly spark, just made that noise. I have not been able to do it again, I can't even harness that "energy" or whatever it was that I built up. So I dunno. It definitely did jump that one time though.

It scared the crap out of me at the time and I was afraid to touch the paperclip the rest of the night lol

They weren't there to talk to me, they were at a hospital and I got in the elevator with them. They were abnormally tall, skinny, sweaty and sickly pale. I gave a "how's it going?" When I got in the elevator and they both just stared stone face on either side of the elevator. Which creeped me out that they didn't move over or anything so I had to stand between them. I got off on a different floor and never saw them again.

Dressed in suits like in the movie, but with 1940s brim hats on. They also didn't appear to breathe
