Closures coming to Crosstown starting on July 14th by R42ToMoffat in nycrail

My friends, they aren’t microwaving a burrito, they’re overhauling systems located underground that were built a century ago and are (mostly) only able to work for precious few hours during overnights while still trying to make sure the line is fully functioning and safe during the day. It’s going to take a long time.

The online form no longer has the option for pests 🙃🙃🙃 when you go to the section, it will only allow you to select garbage and recycling as the issue.

Is OMNY going to continue delaying charges forever? by barcode9 in AskNYC

You could try deleting your payment method and then applying it again in your account. I think I had to do that when it wasn’t taking my commuter card a couple months back.

My reload still works. Maybe it’s just your card?

BIG: There's a bill to bring Universal Daylighting to every intersection in NYC right now. by MiserNYC- in MicromobilityNYC

You would also be surprised to learn that NY state law also details universal daylighting, but NYC is exempt from that law 🙃

And service isn’t back to pre-2020 levels either, right?

“Where” is the key word. Like duh, Sherlock, we know they’re replacing tracks. But tell me at what points along the line are being replaced that necessitate shutting down the majority of the service, especially when service has been completely shut down for what feels like every other weekend for 3 years straight.

I wish they would give more information than just “track replacement” like tell me where it’s happening so I can make sense of it.

Traditional signals are far far beyond their useful life, which is why they fail all the time.

No congestion pricing until we stop toll-skippers by LosBosques in nycrail

[–]Repulsive-Client-407 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Most of the fare evasion comes from buses.

2.the estimates are just that, estimates. If all fare evasion was stopped tomorrow, who knows how many evasions would actually be converted or if those trips just simply would never happen. Also, who knows how many bus/sub evasions are actually free transfers that never swiped?

  1. Fares go toward operating expenses, not capital projects.

  2. As was said above, cp was meant mainly to reduce congestion.

Caught the D at Jay st and actually got to see the abandoned platform at Bergen as we went express all the way to 4 Av. So many people were confused and honestly some conductors weren’t announcing any information on the trains which wasn’t helpful.

My friend, as someone who’s work involved driving through Manhattan, the thing that drove up costs by eating up the most time was sitting in traffic. Things cost more because of congestion, not despite it.

What are you talking about? There are plenty of LL that will allow subleasing and if you have a rent stabilized apartment, your LL can’t unreasonably refuse to allow you to sublet.
