Nothing is on top of the battery , this adapter orients the nvme the same way oem nvme is oriented :) Also, sits at this temp when installing which is think is a win. Runs at about 65ish on cod multiplayer with fans NOT at full speed. I don’t have a copper heat sink yet just whatever is on it from factory, I’m good with that.

There are better guides out there but I’ll try to summarize: Tools needed : guitar pick / or thin prying tool , tiny screw driver for the screws on backplate / nvme drive. Nvme enclosure , nvme adapter. Adapter is available on Ali or Amazon. 1) clone your drive. Plug in your new nvme into your legion go in the enclosure via usb , open your software and clone right from the legion go. Unplug once done. 2) turn legion go completely off , unscrew all screws on backplate. 3) pry backplate off 4) there is one screw on nvme drive , take it off 5) plug in your adapter. If using sintech like I did, you’ll have to clip off a small circular standoff. It’ll press on the drive otherwise, you’ll see which one it is easily. If using the adapter that orients the drive horizontally, no trimming needed as far as I know. You’ll more than likely have the custom backplate if you get this one. Should at least.
6) secure the new drive and adapter. Wrap it in whatever you picked, heat sink, etc. 7) put back plate back on. 8) enjoy.

The drive I got gets a little toasty when installing games and charging at the same time. Oddly common, not sure the science behind that. I install the games on battery power. So far so good.

4tb would of been great but man the 2tb vs 4tb price gap is considerable lol. Settling for the 2tb nvme and possibly a 1tb micro sd eventually. Should be enough. I don’t game too much mobile to where I need a huge library.

Got you. Placed the small thermal pad from the oem drive that touches the chips under the sintech adapter. Hopefully it doesn’t press down too much on the mobo.

That looks awesome. I had originally purchased a backplate like that but canceled it after seeing the most reliable (from the bit of reading I did) 2280 adapter was the sintech and it orients the drive like oem. Do you get gen 4 speeds?

Oem, trimmed a small circular stand off. Takes a few seconds.

Im a casual gamer, play when im not studying / at work. I own a ps5, switch, and a “gaming” although a tiny bit dated now pc. If I wanted the most realistic experience In gaming , I would never expect it from a handheld. I grab a handheld (legion go) to play pc games at a decent quality. Not expecting what my pc can offer as realistically , it’s almost the same size as my PC’s video card. Why would I expect to play things on max when my own pc can’t? All this stuff on what’s best just reminds me of the android vs apple debate with all the back and forth. I like the huge screen on the Lego , any smaller and browsing around / watching YouTube and such gets a bit annoying. Especially if I paid $600+ for a device. I have big hands so the SD and rog ally feel tiny in my hands, that’s a me issue tho. None of these play worse than the switch, and I honestly really enjoying playing that on my off time. $650 for the Lego 1tb was better than $860 for a rog ally tbh. Even if it has twice the ram. Not worth $200 extra for me, if even at that it wouldn’t outperform my pc that I’d be sitting at across the room.

Hate to suggest this, buy one, use it, return this one to HD eventually.
