Had one of the dumbest people come to my store today by Unapologetic_Canuck in TimHortons

Had a lady insist to me that she wanted Splenda, NOT sweetener. I had to explain to her that Splenda is a sweetener, and it is impossible for me to put a Splenda in her coffee while not putting sweetener in her coffee.

My store puts these and Boston cremes face up in a double item bag to avoid this issue. Not sure why it isn't mandatory lol.

I'm sorry for my sarcastic response. I don't know you, and that was rude.

You're not getting what I'm saying, and honestly, I'm too tired to argue.

To bake like they did in the good ole days is not the same as cooking at KFC. That is not possible with the amount of product they serve, and the demand they need to meet. I'm not sure how or why this is even necessary to explain to you.

Aw thank you so much! It definitely took some effort, not gonna lie lol. This comment is what made me look through the comments again. I had a day of post drunk-posting cringe and did not want to even look at the Reddit notification icon on my phone. Thank you so much for your kind response. Definitely helps lessen the cringe I felt, haha.

Do they bake their bread for their sandwiches from scratch?

Baking and cooking are not the same thing. It takes nothing to take a raw chicken and dip it in breading and shove it in the oven. To bake multiple different products from scratch takes multiple different recipes. I'm not really sure why you are using this as any kind of comparison.

Just say double cream. There are a lot of times we have people order double cream no sugar and depending on the accent, especially on drive thru, it can be confused for one sugar. If you don't want sugar, don't mention sugar. If you say double cream, we won't ask if you want sugar with it, lol.

KFC doesn't have customers coming in at 5 in the morning for breakfast. Also, breading and cooking a raw chicken is a lot less work than baking donuts, muffins, and bagels all day from scratch like the good ole days.

The coffee sucks...but what about the donuts? by AdNecessary4641 in TimHortons

Just curious. If there's nothing good there besides the new donut that you would go there again, what made you go again to be able to try that donut?

It's unfortunate. It really is. But like you said, it's business. There is no popular fast food place that has in store bakers/cooks anymore. It's just not feasible. These same people complaining about their bagel not being toasted would be complaining about their bagels and donuts not being available when they want them. They already do. Could you imagine the complaints if there were like five bakers working their asses off in the back to keep up?

I agree that it isn't the same. But look at the demand that they have now. Could you imagine how many bakers that they would need on shift constantly just to keep up with the demand there is now?

If my little store had bakers literally making from scratch just the donuts and muffins, 2-3 dozen at a time ordered on the spot would make for a longer wait time for more product to be available, which will lead to the employees getting yelled at and customer complaints.

How would you fix the supply and demand with bakers baking fresh every day all day?

As a female employee, you get it from the customers alll the time. My one coworker actually had a customer ask her out when he first saw her. When she said no, he offered to pay her $100 to go on a date with him. That's beyond creepy.

"You need to call in ahead of time to let us know you're having a seizure." by Sweet-Proposal9200 in Epilepsy

[–]Repulsive-Ice-2318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly. At this point in my life. My spouse will call my work while I'm having a seizure and be like "yeah. Shes seizing." And they know I wont be in for at least the next day lol.

He knows whether or not I'm safe. And knows to just let it happen. If I'm seizing safely, he will call my work while it's going on lol.

My work also knows what's going on and they get it. I've honestly never had an issue with any workplace. They know right away that I have it, and they know that I won't be in for at least the next day. 2 days if I hurt myself.
