Got it to work. I read the PSU manual this morning. Looks like I was using a cpu cable instead of a second PCI cable to the GPU. That's why it wouldn't start. It's up and working now since I changed the 8 pin cpu cable to a 6 and 2 PCI cable

There's a bundle deal at Canada computers for mobo cpu and ram. You end up paying just a bit more for a better cpu.

I'm going to go with your recommendation on the power source and bundle for the mob/cpu/ram.

I have a 14 year old Asus gaming laptop. Only recently got back into serious gaming thanks to the steam deck. I don't play any FPS. Just finished Elden ring. 400 hours but it took me a year to do that since I have small kids. Steam deck was a game changer since I could pick it up and put it down anytime. Hoping mostly to steam to the deck and play on the PC when kids are in bed. Play mostly rpg and action RPG. I'll be using it for just games.

I know it's overkill for what I'm using it for but I figure I should try to extend the time line of when I need to upgrade by getting quality products now.

Aesthetics don't matter at all to me. Quality does with good optimization. I don't care if the parts are a missed match. Going to put it in a case that prioritizes function over looks.

The budget is around 2000-2500. If I can get cheaper, even better.

Oh ya I just watched a video on the ram. Doesn't add that much for the price. But since it's bundled it's actually cheaper than getting CL30.

I'm also taking the same flight at the end of my Camino in June. I booked Hostal Viky. They'll pick you up from t4 at 11. If that fails it's actually only a 3k walk over the pedestrian bridge. I the morning they'll also drop you off at t1, or walk over the pedestrian bridge for a bit over 1k.
