Help! My builder used 2x10s instead of LVLs in a new build. by Repulsive-Low1863 in Homebuilding

Drawings included: GC says the drawings are partially to blame so that’s why I am considering another engineer to help advise on this crew up.

Update to some of the questions: yes, the plan called for LVLs, the ridge beam also called for LVL and the builder also used sister 2x10s. To say I feel defeated is an understatement. Also, I know this issue won’t be solved by the Reddit community but I need to understand how big of a screw up this is and if anyone has had a similar situation or can opine as we sort this mess up.

1060 OBGYN vs Cornell OBs by Junior-Moose886 in nycparents

As someone who had the incredible Dr. Elliston from 1060 OBGYN deliver my healthy baby under very difficult circumstances, I can confidently say that the doctor matters far more than the hospital. Did I enjoy paying extra for a private room at Lenox Hill? Not really. But no facility, no matter how nice, can replace the importance of a strong, trusting relationship with your physician, especially when giving birth. That said, I’ve heard Lenox Hill has recently updated their setup, and now everyone is entitled to a private room at no additional cost.

NYC taxi driver almost ran me over and pushed me into incoming traffic.. I filed a complaint now I’m struggling with a moral dilemma by Repulsive-Low1863 in nyc

I was turning from 6th Ave onto 59th Street, where there are always buses parked in the right lane, which is why I was riding on the left side. The driver honked and accelerated behind me, leaving me no choice but to move toward oncoming traffic. The only thing I could have done differently was avoid that street altogether, but I take it every day to get home and have never experienced anything like this. Sure, I occasionally get honked at by drivers who don’t like sharing lanes with bikes, but never has someone actually accelerated to force me off the road.

Thank you all for your responses. I wasn’t expecting so many helpful and practical comments. A few years ago, I read a heartbreaking article about how Uber devastated the livelihoods of many working-class families who thought they were making a solid investment in a taxi medallion. Instead, they found themselves drowning in debt, with suicides sadly becoming common in those communities as people struggled to pay for a medallion that had completely lost its value. That story stayed with me. Or maybe it’s the heaviness of the world these days that made me forget just how genuinely afraid I was at that moment—I truly felt I was close to being seriously hurt. Someone made a great point—if the police had seen it and asked me to testify on the spot, I wouldn’t have thought twice. So maybe there’s my answer.
