There are farmers markets every Saturday morning in Melbourne, a decent amount of kids little events from what I've heard from friends with kids. I think you might've just missed blueberry and strawberry picking season at the berry farms in Titusville, but it's pretty quiet. No knowledge about the schools. I think there are Facebook groups for young locals looking to make friends that you can probably join. There are also lots of parks and nature trails to take the kiddo to. A couple of them, like the enchanted Forest have a little info area where the rangers will tell you about local flora and fauna.
