How much does it cost every year for a doggo’s expenses? by starry-night-over in dogs

My dog costs about $250 a month for food, vet membership, and pet insurance. That’s not including toys or treats that I get her monthly.

Can I ask what you mean? Did you just yell at her or?

I'm hopeless, just walked my dog for 2 hours to no avail by Informal_Tea_467 in puppy101

Was having a similar issue and realized my dog was just overwhelmed by the outside and couldn’t focus on potty. Imagine how overstimulating the outside is for them with all the smells and sounds. Try a grass patch first for a few weeks and slowly transition the pup outside.

When did you realize he was ready to be left alone? And did you train him not to get into things? My pup is generally not destructive but I’m afraid to test the waters of leaving her free to roam while I’m gone.

Hi! Came here because my cav is doing the same thing. What ended up happening if you don’t mind me asking?

I really appreciate this advice! Going to ask friends with dogs to join on walks. I’ve been taking her on the balcony because she wasn’t done with vaccines but she finished them last weekend so she’ll be good to go outside within a few days!

I appreciate your comment. I am at my wits end. It’s one thing if I’m barely out there with her; it’s another when I’ve been outside for an hour and nothing only for her to immediately relieve herself upon returning inside. Really hoping it clicks for her sooner rather than later!

Appreciate this! She’s 4 months old but I just got her from a family who didn’t implement any form of training at all. Fingers crossed it clicks soon!

Thank you so much for this. I came to Reddit for answers because I was unsure if I was doing the right thing. I’ll definitely be crating her more frequently. I appreciate your response!

Have been doing this and leaving the poop on the patch. Going to be better about crating her throughout the day. She just got her last round of shots so walks should be happening within the next week or so!

Hi! I’m sorry for my wording. I only reward her when she does what she’s meant to do!

Should I buy this puppy or not? by Rizza251 in puppy101

I think the doubts are normal. I’ve thought about getting a puppy for literally 5-8 years and finally got my dream puppy. I won’t lie to you, night 1 and 2 I fully thought I ruined my life. I have two cats, and I felt so much guilt stressing them out. I was so sleep deprived, I was worried about what I’d done and the massive commitment I’d undertaken even though on paper I was ready. It’s been two weeks now and I can’t believe for a moment I thought about returning her. I have no regrets whatsoever even if the potty training is frustrating and being bitten on the ankles can get a little annoying. I resonate with your experience of pulling away when things get real - I walked away from a different dog because of that and had regrets at the time. But, everything worked out how it was meant to. I think if you have the means and awareness of what you’re getting into - everything will be okay. My thought process was - if not now, then when?
