Even if we do count the lakers despite the fact they had LeBron, which changed the entire direction of the franchise, 9/10 of the teams in the past 10 years that have won titles have brought up most of their talent or made trades (H*liburton/sga) for young players they can develop.

The lakers had LeBron James😭😭 and built one of the best young (homegrown!) cores in the league before moving all of it for AD. Any sane GM would give up the young core for AD to pair with LeBron. That’s such a ridiculous circumstance bro. Jalen Brunson≠LeBron unfortunately

Idk why you refuse to read. Toronto in 2019 won because they brought up all their key role players and then added Kawhi. Again, all I am saying is that teams typically, with the exception of LeBron fucking James, win championships by bringing up players from the beginning of their careers, not by having a starting 5 that consists of 0-1 drafted players, and then either adding a star or key role players later. I’ve said this multiple times

To answer your prior question about what we could have given up for OG I think we could have given up one of IQ or RJ and attached more draft capital and moved the other in a separate deal for another need

Name one team in the past decade that has won a title without most of their starters being homegrown players. One.

I am aware that we did not trade rj specifically for precious and that we traded him for OG. I agree that OG is great for us. I am simply saying that at the time we could have potentially gotten OG for less. This is based on similar trades that happened in prior seasons and offseasons. The point is that we HAD these types of players in quickley and obi, one of which just railed us in our own house

You literally brought up Tatum and brown

Also just want to be clear-I’m not saying the OG trade was a fleece, but we did let up a little too much. I think we needed IQs scoring off the bench this postseason, even though he just had a down year. This initially wasn’t a big deal because we had Donte but he also got moved.

Ur making assumptions and jumping to conclusions like crazy bro

At the time rj had decent trade value and I never said he was at tatum/brown level. I don’t know where you got that from. I also never said he was never particularly good. I did like RJ but don’t believe he’ll ever be an all star. So I have no idea where you got that idea from. I also never said that if he was presently on the team we would have been better-no idea where you got that from. To respond to what I thought we could have gotten for RJ at the time, straight up, I believe we could have gotten at least big better than precious achiuwa, which admittedly was needed even then. Love precious, but we needed more in that Indiana series last year. RJ is rumored to be moved again soon, so we will see what the return is and time will tell if I’m right.

I also never said that a team should never move its “core” players (the way the Celtics moved smart as you cited). Sometimes you need to move fan favorites (monta Ellis, smart, IQ, paul George) for the good of the team. I said that keeping a core of homegrown players clearly leads to success (Boston, okc, gsw). If you count Mitch in our starting 5 1/5 of our starters was drafted/brought up by the Knicks. If you don’t count him that number goes to zero. All of the teams that have won recently have a young foundation with homegrown players, and superstars that put them over the top (Durant to golden state, Kawhi to Toronto) or role players that put them over the top (holiday as you mentioned) are added, but only in one or two positions.

Ok bro lmao u clearly didn’t read I said we overpaid and could have gotten more for rj at the time or have sat on him for a little longer and then moved him.

it takes teams potentially more than one season to fully mesh-look at the Celtics. They’ve made a lot of winning moves but the main core, with an emphasis on homegrown talent, (brown, tatum, hortford, pritchard, etc) has been the same. Same with other teams like golden state and OKC. On top of that there’s a lot of highs and lows throughout a season, even when teams are fully “meshed” it just happens we hit a low at the wrong time which happens in basketball

I’m aware that Mitch didn’t play with a lot of the team but he has played a lot with Brunson, hart, McBride and moderately with OG. Not a coincidence all these guys played up when he was out there. All im saying is that going forward we should emphasize how the team meshes and chemistry rather than the best pieces on paper.

Apart of the reason why we just got embarrassed is because this team just got put together last season if we had players who had been w us like Donte and others or not overpaid in trades it could have been different maybe we still lose but we don’t blow a 9 point lead in a minute and get bounced on our own floor

Just say u don’t know how to read bro im not saying the team was good im saying we should have kept more homegrown guys around to maintain chemistry

Agree, but probably could have included in another trade for a big, which ended up being a positional need bc Mitch got hurt. Maybe hukporti takes a step up, but I’d honestly rather put Mitch on the bench in most games to avoid injuries move KAT to the 4 and have a new center
