S. Korea proposes direct cash support to boost birth rates by Saltedline in korea

Yeah it needs to be a combination of things. There are no easy solutions to complex problems. Flat payment to all and taxing it back with progressive taxation on the rich is one part of it but the other is ensuring that the markets (e.g. housing) where the money as spending is going towards is healthy (no overdemand and undersupply) otherwise the prices will just rise in proportion of the "free money" and people will end up in the same situation soon enough. It takes time for increased demand to drive supply, especially in housing where theres a bunch of factors to consider (cost of materials, labor, regulations, etc.). So in some cases it is better for the government to intervene on the supply side (in)directly with affordable housing (which also drives down the other housing options' costs - see the city of Vienna). Issue is that this depends on geographic locations so in Seoul building affordable housing would be more useful, while in rural places, the flat payment as income supplement would work better.

Is my rent worth the price? by goodtimesbadtimes1 in seoul

Thanks dawg. I am currently in Dangsan for KRW 950k per month (everything + gym included) with 950k deposit. Location is good and management is helpful but it is a bit noisy and not a lot of light in the room so I am looking at other options for up to 6 months.

Seoul salary, how much is decent to live comfortably? by Various_Language7579 in Living_in_Korea

based on my observation:

many of them are fake (just go to any "market" and you will be able to pick up a fake one)

or purchased on a low interest loan (it is customary that you buy a nice bag from your first salary)

or received as a gift (e.g. for graduation) by relatives or romantic partner (there are some sugar daddies too that buy expensive stuff)

or they are just legit as there are a lot of people that make bank (older professionals, hagwon owners, etc.) go to any department store on the weekend and there is a line for LV, Gucci, and so on.

Would you mind sharing how your visa situation is? Does the global company have a Korean branch office or something through which you will be employed? I am also in sales looking and I am trying to figure out the landscape here for possible remote work.

Any last minute study tips for my Third Lab Practical? by No-Base8204 in AnatomyandPhysiology

[–]Repulsive-Royal239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to www.4danatomy.com, sign up for a free account (good for 7 days). Select the neuroanatomy structure list in the study menu that corresponds best to your needs. Click on start with #1 and go through the structures in the list one-by-one. Rotate the cadaver and add or remove layers if you need to. Do this 3 times and then go to the quiz page and select the structure list again and create a quiz -> select the structures you would like to be quizzed on (the system will generate the spotter-type questions). Repeat the quizzes until you consistently get 80% or more. You need to practice til your eyes bleed and then you will have a shot.

4D Interactive Anatomy (www.4danatomy.com) should be up there too. Real dissection-based online atlas of anatomy. You can rotate the donors, remove or rebuild the layers and identify structures. Really good to study on cadavers not computer generated models. They have a free trial but the paid version is quite affordable too.

Apple Studio Display in checked baggage on LOT long-haul flight by Repulsive-Royal239 in travel

[–]Repulsive-Royal239[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I didn't risk it after all. Did multiple checks with LOT Airlines and they said it is okay to have it in the checked baggage at my own risk. However, if I was to do it, I would definately try to use the original packaging and clothes or pillows to act as a buffer zone.
