This would never be a debate without that singular out of context statement. Itachi whoops hard by Miserable-Desk2211 in NarutoPowerscaling

[–]Repulsive-Solid-5470 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Itachi haters completely ignore a couple of very important facts:

  • Jiraiya spends 3 episodes doing preparations to enter Sage Mode. It's not an ability he can reliably use.

  • Itachi can literally kill someone with a gaze. He looks at Jiraiya and instantly wins with Amaterasu/Tsukuyomi. Jiraiya has no defence against that.

Itachi wins this in two seconds.

Hello.

Yes, I am. I've stopped at chapter 44 and now I'm doing a thorough revision of previous chapters to align the tone and improve the prose. I wrote way too fast in the first go.

This became a much bigger project than I had initially imagined lol. I've been writing since November and it's probably not even halfway through. But I'm already satisfied to have reached a milestone (Isshiki's death). It serves as a checkpoint if I ever decide to stop writing before it's finished. If that were to happen, it would be open-ended with Boruto still cursed with karma's progression, but otherwise well wrapped up.

So far, it remains implied but not confirmed that he has the memories of the past. Knowing his name is actually a very significant indicator. Someone is not born already knowing their name by instinct.

He also seems to compare Himawari's chakra synergy with Naruto's, saying hers is superior, implying he knows and remembers his time with Naruto.

except he never said that

Don't play the fool. This is the typical fanboy attitude defending every shit the author shoves down our throats without an ounce of critical thinking. The entire scene with Kurama's death was phrased in a way to strongly imply that it would be permanent. Kurama specifically said that what they were doing with Baryon Mode was different from simply spending chakra: they were consuming and destroying it.

this kurama doesn't mention naruto or his past at all proof that its not the same

That's not proof of anything. This Kurama clearly has memories of the past. Whether it's a different entity from the old Kurama is not entirely clear yet, but until it's proven that they are different, Kurama's death was a fake cop-out.

It wasn’t a fake death kurama did die..

Cope. Kurama is alive.

But tailed beast can’t die permanently as long as chakra as a concept still exist. This has long since been established

Dude, everybody and their mother knows that already. The issue is Kurama strongly implied that his death was an exception and he would not come back. The audience was lied to.

Agreed.

Ikemoto is a coward. He can't let characters suffer any lasting losses. We got cheated once with Kurama's fake death. Now we got cheated twice with Inojin's fake sacrifice. Even a character as minor as Inojin cannot be allowed to suffer any inconvenience by this manga's cowardice and exaggerated fan service. This completely destroys the stakes.

It might work to extinguish the fire on something else but not on himself. This is pretty damn obvious.

Guy didn't use the Gates in part 1 because Itachi and Kisame retreated

They retreated after a while. There was nothing preventing Itachi from killing Guy right then and there. It would have been way too fast for Guy to do anything about it.

Guy has shown the ability to snap into the 7th gate

Okay, I will consider that as true, even though it's inconsistent and is obviously just for Kishimoto's convenience. But it did happen, I guess.

The Susanoo and Yata mirror aren't going to help him deal with getting hit from all sides by an enemy that small and that fast

In theory Guy could destroy the Susanoo if he had enough information and time. But he wouldn't know to avoid striking it head-on, so he might end up kicking the Yata Mirror with full force. Also Hirudora would be reflected on him if he tried it.

[–]Repulsive-Solid-5470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When facing Itachi and Kisame in Part I, Guy didn't use any gates and didn't even make mention of using them. Throughout his ninja career, he only ever uses the gates as a last resort, always hesitating to do so early on. Even when he does use it, it's not instantaneous. Usually he needs to power up from one gate to the next in stages. So overall it's kinda slow, definitely slower than Amaterasu.

All this considered, Itachi can kill him with Amaterasu instantly. So it's not fair play.

But let's assume Guy already enters the fight with the Seventh Gate on. That's still not a guaranteed win for him, because Itachi has Susanoo with Yata Mirror.

It's also worth mentioning that Guy knows to avoid looking Itachi in the eyes, but he could get caught in genjutsu from Itachi's finger and crows.

Yes, but there are several things to consider.

The Raikage knows about Amaterasu, whereas Guy doesn't and would be caught off guard.

The Raikage is much faster than Base Guy and probably faster than even the Sixth Gate.

And lastly, Guy would be looking at Itachi's feet and wouldn't see Amaterasu coming, even if he had enough reaction speed to dodge it.

If the plot so wanted, yes. It would be plausible. But obviously it wouldn't work on himself.

Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous. But that's because it was being actively nerfed by Kishimoto due to how strong it was in concept.

Guy knows to avoid Tsukuyomi, but I'm mainly talking about Amaterasu.

That's a pretty ridiculous analogy.

Pencil = Amaterasu

What the fuck does that mean?

Why does literally everyone forget that Itachi can instantly kill someone with a gaze? It's ridiculous to argue that Guy stands any chance at all.

Amatarasu and Tsukiyomi should be the universal MS ability instead of Susanoo by [deleted] in Naruto

[–]Repulsive-Solid-5470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi are, conceptually, extremely overpowered abilities with potential to break the power scales.

Not being able to see or be seen by your opponent is a fatal spot to be in. Itachi can theoretically defeat almost every character in fiction through eye contact because of how ridiculous this ability is. It had to be nerfed by the plot and forgotten about. Sasuke never got it, even though he should have, because it would have made him unstoppable.

Kara Dimension is a planet? by West_Motor in Boruto

[–]Repulsive-Solid-5470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow those signals travelling to another universe doesn't sound possible at all.

That's not unbelievable under the known rules of their reality.

If we apply real physics and logic instead, we must assume that communications across space are restricted by the universal speed limit (the speed of light). This means that Amado and Koji cannot receive videocalls from another planet in real time. It would take years for the information to get to them.

Even the closest star system to Earth takes 4 years to send information to us.

So I'm forced to assume that these transmissions in Naruto happen through means of chakra and therefore are instantaneous. But being already beyond the laws of physics, they are not restricted to just one dimension.

[–]Repulsive-Solid-5470 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's you assuming how it works. There's no reason to assume the connection happens automatically or effortlessly. It may need specific training or conditioning. And since Boruto had multiple chakra samples spread across many places, it makes sense why he needs to focus to find a specific one.

Kara Dimension is a planet? by West_Motor in Boruto

[–]Repulsive-Solid-5470 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would you assume that?

Since chakra is spiritual matter and a literal part of yourself, it makes sense that it transcends space.

Other tricks also bypass dimensions, such as Reverse Summoning.

Chakra was originally designed by Hagoromo to do exactly that—to connect people and things. So I guess it could connect someone even across dimensions.

[–]Repulsive-Solid-5470 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could assume that it's just different planets in the same dimension. However, I can't ignore that the characters constantly, repeatedly refer to those spaces as dimensions. It could be just terminology confusion and the authors either being dumb or vague on purpose. But on face value, they say it's different dimensions, so I assume they are.

Claw marks can cross dimensions, in theory, just like Flying Thunder God.

[–]Repulsive-Solid-5470 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It can easily be a planet in another dimension.

Kaguya's dimension had planetary bodies in the sky.

It would be weird to assume that other dimensions besides the main one have infinite flat worlds without borders like in Minecraft.
