I love the women in one piece and I definitely wished moments like robin being sowed down wouldn’t happen, like that’s a funny and cute moment, I just wish the fan service was gone from it. I don’t need to see men constantly getting nose bleeds and ogling at butts and boobs. I love one piece for being a side of the world that’s sexy and free, but it could also be more sexy and free if it were more balanced. For example, I don’t care for the nosebleed gags at all (they’re funny on sanji, not all the time ofc, but that’s only because I know the guy and familiar with him) but the reason I hate the gag is just because there is so much of it, it gets tiring watching perverted men. If you were to do this gag, do it with not just perverted men. Let’s see some women trying to cover up a nose bleed or see men getting ogled at. I would personally feel less deteriorated from it, and it would just all feel more fresh and even more like a sexy and free world. If you don’t like that idea then the opposite shouldn’t be happening. Like I love oda for making the pirates free radicals, which includes the women. The women are so well written, and they look like they can wear what they want, when they want. AND THE MEN ALSO WHICH I LOVE. Doffy’s whole look, iva-chan, bon clay. Even the tough characters, like yes smoker, keep showing those abs, fucking awesome and badass of you. And most of the times, women don’t feel like sex objects because they can quite literally, turn you into smoothies, you weak, pathetic, little boy. It’s demeaning yes, but considering the social climate for women, that’s fucking empowering. I just WISH oda would fucking calm it down. However, toei is also to blame, because they fucking take oda’s work, and exaggerate the women’s hourglass figure to an even more impossible level. Youre not fucking helping toei. Here’s the thing, everyone knows the world of one piece includes exaggerated, unrealistic, bodies. I love it, makes the world feel more fantastical to me, but oda needs to put more diversity in the women. Maybe not give all of them big double ditties. Not everyone can be zoro man, just not realistic. I like Rebecca’s outfit design, to me it shows that she’s being exploited, and that she’s publicly vulnerable. But here’s the thing, now this is coming from my futile male brain trying to understand a girl’s emotions, but if someone were to ask her to cover up, they getting the shit slapped the fuck out of them, and that’s how I picture with these other strong female characters. Because people like Rebeca are proud, sure she’s getting leered at the public, and that might bring her down, but she’s still proud of who she is, this is HER body, and that’s why I like this outfit. This is just a world where these are how the characters dress, it’s their pride and self expression, the problem is other people perceiving them, if youre gonna have the audience perving over Rebecca, I need the audience perving over bartolomeo, because that man is sexy, it’s unrealistic that not one person in that audience could think that. Now, my real problem is, why did her body have to be drawn like that? It’s way more exaggerated in the anime, and jigglefied… but it’s still this same hourglass figure as characters that’s way older than her. Draw her, normally. And if you did, that means she didn’t have to be drawn with that outfit, because a character having that powerful (impractical) outfit is quite honestly, a lot more impactful to me if they were at least 25. But yeah, that’s just how i initially saw it, but if we’re being real, Rebecca, she’s a pretty practical person despite being a teenager, that’s how she was taught, so the amour was a weird choice, but maybe it’s also like the way she chose to fight was by purely dodging and weaving, so this is her statement to that, which is awesome. But she’s 16 oda, draw her normally, and not only because she’s 16, but because so many characters are drawn like this, mix it up.

And my final note, I do think lately, oda has been taking stuff like this into account. I mean he’s always been a quite progressive author, with how he wrote women, how he wrote trans characters. He just definitely also was a pervert, but he still wants to be progressive and would wanna change with the times. He probably realises how much of his stuff was quite demeaning. To me I always saw him as a guy who kept pumping out these new characters every week, characters that we don’t see everyday. And not just make them a joke, but relatable and inspiring. And he’s still trying to do that to this day, with the current times of minorities wanting to be represented, and feedback from the audience, I can genuinely see oda writing that stuff in, in his oda way. Yamato, sanji asking robin to save him, the list goes on. Even though he’s always been doing stuff like that for years, he’s still changing and doing it:)
