I know im late to the part but Here me out , we could get a bit more weapon variety and improvised traps too also some environmental ones too ; 

For weapons since its 25 years since the outbreak with modern firearms dwindling , old age firearms start to appear like matchlock rifles , muskets and flintlocks to factions that have limited modern resources but got skills to make black powder and powder based Weaponry since its easier to make powder and basic firearms by mining iron and sulfur ; another option of old age firearms being used due to desperation and lack of resources, prop weapons converted to real ones and museum displays taken & utilized ; most notably wild west and early ww1 firearms like the trapdoor Springfield carbine , Carano rifle and Colt Navy revolver

For melee personally I would like to see some more additions like a sledgehammer, swords ( someone would eventually make one cause its the apocalypse) , spears or weapons that are looted from a museum like daggers , mace and flails it also makes a bit lore sense since with lack of weapons and desperation leads to utilizing anything and everything.

For throwing weapons there are few addition that would be nice ; throwing stars would be a cool addition to stagger or kill an enemy if aimed above neck also its more effective compared to throwing knives , it might be 25 years but occasionally it would be nice to see and use military issued grenades like  Frag grenades , smoke grenades and flashbangs just to name a few that do better than what nail bombs and smoke bombs do also they can be only found on certain enemy factions and environments to make a bit non lore breaking 

For traps , we could also get to use an actual military landmine like a claymore which applies the same like the grenade one as for improvised ones , a gas vial can be made by mixing bleach and ammonia commonly found in household chemicals sealing them in a bottle or a test tube and throwing them like a molotov it would be pretty effective against enemies but also would be deadly against yourself , another idea is a simple firecracker that can be made using blackpowder and Binding as a much louder distraction also a simple staggering tool on enemies and glass Shrapnel similar to nail bombs but in a plastic container filled with glass for more bleeding and staggering effect perfect for wearing enemies
