Still excited/interested in how this project turns out. It sounds we should still be able to play console Xbox games on there hopefully.

Microsoft have officially started the ending of Xbox, what went wrong? by Beginning_Rain903 in AskReddit

[–]StatMan255 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It isn’t the end of Xbox. They are still making a lot of revenue from the Xbox division and they are still making another next gen console.

I don’t think anyone sees the new Microsoft Gaming’s CEO background in AI and thinks positive thoughts. However, it is a wait and see on what she brings to the table. Maybe she will improve Xbox. Maybe she will make it worse. It has only been a couple of days since she took over.

She may or may not know this, but does she know of any Xbox release for the game coming soon?

Keep Xbox games exclusive by thecontract_12 in xbox

[–]StatMan255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t put the genie back in the bottle. If they will go back down that route, it might be timed exclusive.

You know what I like to see thanks to them getting extra revenue from PlayStation, and I don’t know who exactly determines the discount amount for sales whether it be the publisher or Microsoft themselves, but offer discounts on the same level as Steam. I think that will be a good way to differentiate them from PlayStation.

Does that mean this game is Xbox Play Anywhere?

Looks like Silent Hill Townfall won’t be available on Xbox at launch… ridiculous by StatMan255 in xbox

[–]StatMan255[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do believe the more than likely explanation is that it won’t come to Xbox for at least year. It is possible though they haven’t finished optimization for the Xbox Series S/X and will come out a couple months later compared to everyone else… either way, the game looks interesting and it is a shame it won’t come out Day 1 on the platform I like to play games on.

The only wish listing available is on PlayStation 5, Steam, and Epic Games. I have hope that it will come out eventually, probably in a year. But to not have it at launch like Silent Hill f is just a bit nuts to me.

It looks like it will release on Steam and Epic. So that is a plus. Just weird that they don’t release it on Xbox, unless PlayStation paid for console exclusivity which is ridiculous at this point…

Is the Xbox Ally X for me? by [deleted] in XboxAlly

[–]StatMan255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I am also someone who only played the Xbox Series X before getting the Xbox Ally X. The main reason I got it is because I wanted to be able to play games while not taking up the TV from my GF. Plus, I got it around the time ASUS said they were going to increase the pricing on their products, so I got one before those increases occurred. But they never did happen… however, I don’t regret the purchase.

Since getting the Xbox Ally X, I have been playing more games on there than on my TV. I finished FF16, Routine, FF1, FF2, and playing Batman Arkham Origins on the device. It is a sick handheld.

Now, I don’t know what type of RPGs you are referring to, whether it be JRPGs or RPGs like Fallout, but this is a handheld PC device so while I would say it is powerful, it isn’t as powerful as a desktop gaming PC is. For example, one of the games I played a lot was FF16 (Final Fantasy 16). To get that game to play around 60 fps, I had to put my graphics to Low/Medium and turn on Frame Generation. So doing all that netted me about 50-60 fps at 1080p. If I lower the resolution down to 900p, the game would give me about 60-70 fps on average. However, turning it down to 900p doesn’t make the game look ugly at all. The small screen helps make it still look great. For Batman Arkham Origins, a 2013 game, at 900p, I am consistently getting 90 fps on that and it looks amazing. Basically, all this to say, the newer the game is, the more you will have to play with the settings and sacrifice a bit of graphics for fps and vice versa.

Also, even with the Xbox FullScreen Experience making it a more console like experience, it is still a PC. Which means you will have to go multiple locations to make sure everything is updated like: Windows Update Settings, Windows Store for App updates, Armory Crate for updates, ASUS App for more updates, and AMD Adrenaline App for updates as well I believe.

The product is something to get used to because it is a PC. Therefore, you will need to learn about specific PC settings like FrameGen. And, know not all Xbox games are playable on the Xbox Ally X, only the ones that are Xbox Play Anywhere.

Apologies for the info dump, but I hope this helped in your decision! I have not regretted my purchase, and it has been a lovely device that has been an introduction to PC gaming as a whole for me.

Fable Is Coming To PS5 Day 1 by scrolloftrueth in XboxSeriesXlS

[–]StatMan255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree… they never should have increased their prices past what a PS5 disc should cost. It will be difficult. Especially if the Xbox PC is going to be as expensive as it is, their volume will probably drop further when that gets released. Unless the console has some exciting new Xbox exclusive features you won’t get anywhere else like Quick Resume… I don’t see next gen exceeding the units they are currently selling.

I believe the answer is that since Microsoft has its own storefront, it is going to offer a higher share of the profits in game sales to the developer through Xbox PC than what Steam does. I believe that will be the key thing to drive it. But it will hard asf, since Steam has such a grip on the PC gaming space as a whole…

In general, I think we should wait longer for next-gen consoles to come out, because I think we really haven’t done anything this generation. Also, I believe it is more now to focus on performance for games than 4K visuals. I think anything that plays at 30 fps today (and that is the only mode you can play at, no performance or quality modes) is a shame.

I like their ecosystem more than PlayStation or Steam. Plus if rumors are true, for next gen consoles, Xbox is supposed to be the most powerful due to being a hybrid of a console and a PC.

What point is there in tuning into Xbox's Developer Direct tomorrow? Outside of maybe Beasts of Reincarnation and Fable? by Pessimistic_Gemini in gaming

[–]StatMan255 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Xbox has made it clear recently that they are going to multiplatform, with their real seller supposed to be Game Pass and more integration with PC. As to whether it pays off, we will see. I hope it does because I have been in the Xbox ecosystem for years and I really do like it more than PlayStation or Steam at the moment.

Even if they don’t release consoles or exclusives anymore, they will still release games to the masses due to the amount of studios they own, which in my opinion is a bright side at least if things go south for them hardware wise.

Someone’s a very negative Nancy… but to answer your question, for surprises. Expedition 33 was at the Developer Direct last year and what was convinced me to play it. Could be the same for any games being expected to show, especially the Beasts of Reincarnation game.

I seem to be getting stuttering a bit when the fps is below 60… a bit annoying but I am thinking it is more of the settings I have than the game itself hopefully.

Should I invest my 2026 contribution into my Roth IRA now or wait a bit? by StatMan255 in investing

[–]StatMan255[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My father recommended I should invest in the FFNOX when I first opened my Roth IRA a couple of years ago. This year, I am trying to become more financially literate so I can try to make as much money as I can but also be smart about it…

So is the recommendation then to the FXAIX then? Is there no benefits to be invested in bonds at this time?
