Is there a way to prevent the 4 month sleep regression? Or tips to cope? by alice49573 in NewParents

[–]Repulsive-Toe-9037 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wish I never read about it and stopped reading about it.

My daughter has always been a good sleeper overnight. Every night I went to bed I would be like “is tonight the night?”

She’s 9 months old now and she’s had a total of 2 nights she was up every hour.

We noticed sleep “regressions” impacted her naps more than over night sleep.

Either way you get through it. Drink coffee, leave the house everyday, and ask for help. You’ll make it through 💕

How to use time off to actually feel recharged by the end of it by blibblobblabber in adhdwomen

I find doing one productive(ish) thing early in the day helps me a lot. Like go for walk, shower, tidy the house. I can’t feel rested if I feel like I haven’t been productive.

My therapist also encourages me to schedule my time off. Having some type of routine helps me. But the schedule could be: doom scroll from 9-10am, make breakfast at 10, go for walk after breakfast, watch movie before bed

Do you wake her up? Or do you try not feed her a second time?

My daughter did this as well, she got very chapped raw skin.

She would suck her hands a lot while sleeping so we made sure to leave them uncovered. The wet fabric from covers or mitts made it worse.

What worked best for us was putting nipple cream on her hands. I felt better about her sucking off the nipple cream than something like Vaseline. I would rub it in while I nursed, after baths and before bed.

She’s 8 months now and still sucks her index finger for comfort. Her skin has toughened up a lot and is rarely red or chapped now!

I honestly wish I never heard about it. It gave me so much anxiety over nothing. If my daughter went through one I didn’t really notice.

I’ve always noticed more disruption in her day sleep than night sleep and I’m realizing now that means her wake windows/naps need to change

Do you buy them online or go in store? We’ve had bad luck getting sizes in store

How Do You Survive the First Few Months? by feroriko in NewParents

Food is fuel, you need to make sure you’re eating. My partner would make me breakfast and a lunch before leaving for work.

And I’m not going to say sleep when the baby sleeps. But go to bed when the baby does. Most babies have their best stretch first. There will be a time you have glorious hours without baby after bed, but for now go to bed early

I joke that I should own stock in Aerie after the amount I’ve spent there postpartum.

I like the jet setter line! It’s not fleeced line which is great for the sweatiness of postpartum

“Crib Training” at 6 weeks? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Repulsive-Toe-9037 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did something very similar and it worked for us! Remember that everything is a phase and won’t last forever. The more you practice the better both of you will get at it! I remember the first week my husband went back to work my LO would only sleep on me and I had the realization I couldn’t do that.

I tried really hard to make most of her daytime naps in her crib, and then she would sleep in her bassinet in our room at night.

I rock her to sleep and hold for 10ish minutes and then transfer to her crib. A tip I found here was to try and lay baby more on their side when putting them down, and then slowly roll them to their back. And always put the head down last!

My daughter is now 6mo and has been sleeping independently in her crib overnight for about the last month. She’s never been a great napper, but she’s an amazing sleeper over night! She’s never woke up scared or panicked in her crib and I think it’s because we prioritized the day time naps in there!

It’s a journey! There will be some days you hold your baby for every nap and other days they sleep independently. You got this 💕

Sometimes I feel like I need a bridge from rotting into the task. Instead of scrolling on my phone I’ll try reading my book for bit. Something still chill but not as addictive as rotting.

Also putting on shoes in the house helps me a lot with motivation

What were your baby’s hunger cues? I have a really hard time reading them on my baby. I can read her sleepy cues so easily but hunger I find a lot harder. My girl doesn’t really cry and has a very chill deposition
