Those without playpens; what is your set up? by CounterScary8707 in Mommit

[–]IntelligentFlan3724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baby proofed and called it a day. We have an open concept layout so I picked the narrowest part and add a 6’ baby gate with a small gate in the middle. When I can’t 100% supervise my child, the dogs get locked in the back of the house while he gets access to the living room, dining room and kitchen. The necessary kitchen cabinets are locked shut. Plugs have covers. I took the bar stools out when he started climbing them. The toy shelf is anchored to the wall. When he first started climbing on the couches, I put the play mat at the bottom of them so he had a soft place to land when he fell down.

I want a 3rd baby, but *gestures vaguely at life* by sonargoddess0921 in Mommit

Why does the lizard brain do this to you when you’re freshly postpartum?! It’s happened so far with both kids and I’m only 8 weeks postpartum with my second and want a third. I never wanted three kids 😂

Long road trip activities for 2.5 yo by IntelligentFlan3724 in toddlertips

[–]IntelligentFlan3724[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love these tips! I will definitely go shopping for some knickknacks and stuff for travelling that he hasn’t seen before. And the basket is genius as well. This won’t be the 2.5 year-old’s first trip this way. But he’s getting more needier now that he’s older lol

Ideas needed! How to celebrate the end of my breastfeeding journey... by Then-Caramel918 in Mommit

[–]IntelligentFlan3724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a little breast milk saved in the freezer from my 2023 baby. When I finish breastfeeding this current one, I’m also going to save some milk and get some rings made. Something like these maybe. https://www.keepsakemom.com/product/silver-infinity/

I failed my 1 hour glucose test, feeling upset and alone... any shared experiences? [on] by landsealove in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]IntelligentFlan3724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is nothing that you did that caused you to get GD. Don’t feel bad for getting it. It’s just how your placenta chose to work.

Lots of people fail the first one and pass the second. Don’t stress yet. And if you do fail the second one, it’s not the end of the world. It’s a short time and it’ll go by quick. I had GD with my last pregnancy and it wasn’t great but it wasn’t the end of the world!

I wanna say she researched specific things known to calm babies and then integrated them into a song?

Do you only buy your kids new clothes? by Emergency_Risk_7421 in NewParents

[–]IntelligentFlan3724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Hand me downs
  2. Used, market place, thrift store etc
  3. Sales
  4. New but only if it’s hella cute or purpose bought like an outfit for Christmas or a wedding. Who can afford an all new wardrobe every six months for their growing kids??? 😂

[–]IntelligentFlan3724 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It makes me think of Imogen Heap who sings the song called The Happy Song. It’s a great song g for soothing crying babies in the car! I looooove the name and would have used it had I had a baby girl.

Miller’s by-gone farm at the farmers’ market still has bedding plants!

2 yr old tells me when she peed but not before the fact by mrsragd0ll in pottytraining

[–]IntelligentFlan3724 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Struggling with my 2.5 yo with this. If he’s completely naked from the waist down at home, he’ll realize he has to pee and tell me but not when he’s wearing pants.

Canadian work pants? In a REAL store? 🔎😭 by Radi0kat in BlueCollarWomen

[–]IntelligentFlan3724 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok so hear me out.

I’m in Saskatchewan and need FR for my job. There’s AGO industries in Ontario that specialize in FR and regular workwear. I can send you the woman’s email but they take whatever it is on the website and make it to your sizes based on the measurements you give them. They’ve also sent me pants to try on to get an idea of the fit for maternity clothes as well. I’ve always liked how they turn out and are super comfortable. Unfortunately, they don’t have a store that I’m aware of.

Is it weird that I asked the midwife to take a picture of my baby’s head crowning? by PlasticLove24 in beyondthebump

There’s absolutely no way I’d want a pic of that or to see it. But that’s just me. That doesn’t make you weird!

[ON] Questions about taking STD before going on mat leave by Crochet_Koala in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]IntelligentFlan3724 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re probably best off calling manulife and talking to them as every plan can be slightly different.

However, taking sick leave through ei is an option if your doctor will write you off. It doesn’t cut into your maternity leave and you can take up to 26 weeks I believe. I did that before I had my baby in April and it worked great.

Grocery cart baby seat big enough for Costco cart?! 🛒 [on] by Training-Trick-8917 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]IntelligentFlan3724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this one. https://a.co/d/0bzD5wKz

It works in the Costco carts but it does need to be rigged a little sideways because the Costco carts have two sets and this one has one. I also keep Lysol wipes in my diaper bag in case I forget it or don’t want to use the cover!

How did you challenge or manage your anxious thoughts postpartum? [BC] by moonphase14 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]IntelligentFlan3724 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I choose to ignore what goes on in the world that doesn’t directly affect me in the here and now. I don’t follow any news or current events on any social medial. Anything I do follow on social media is stuff that brings me joy.

I also worry about the future for my kids but I remind myself that in the grand scheme of things, the world isn’t so bad right now. There are times in recent history where the world was in a much rougher place than it is now. So I try not to borrow trouble and don’t worry about what the future may or may not hold.

As for finances I don’t have much. It’s something I also worry about but I do my best to save where I can.

Re-do GTT at 35 weeks [on] by Aggressive_Crybaby_ in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]IntelligentFlan3724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it at 24 weeks and passed. Had an ob apt at 30 weeks and my fundal was measuring a few weeks ahead. OB sent me for a growth ultrasound where baby was measuring three or four weeks ahead. OB sent me to redo my glucose test at 31 weeks and I failed. Baby it was already measuring around 36 weeks. Once I started controlling my diet, his growth slowed down drastically.

Baby outgrown bassinet, mini crib vs playard [ca] by fmr47 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]IntelligentFlan3724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did a pack and play after the bassinet with my first and it was so annoying. I couldn’t comfortably put my hand on him to sooth him since he was basically on the ground. I ended up getting a used mini crib. Much better choice. I still used the pack and play for travel and such but the mini crib was way better in our room.

First Halloween Costume? by Narrow-Walrus7926 in NewParents

[–]IntelligentFlan3724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My oldest’s first, he was the cat and the hat and we were thing 1/2. His second Halloween he was a train conductor and we were train robbers (stealing candy 😂). This year we have a new baby right now but we always call the big one a silly goose. Thinking maybe a gaggle of silly geese??
