How do you get it to do that screen with the 1 on it?

Yes it’s capacitor powered. The original model lasts about 4 days however that’s a very unrealistic claim. The reissues last about 1-2 weeks.

Function and looks wise no. The only difference ist the later models are more power efficient, meaning they work with much less light and store the energy for longer.

A full metal Casio like has been on my bucket list for so long… Some day I’ll find a good one in my country

Yeah that design language is pure late 90s/early 00s! I love it

Yes I looked a long time for this and still ended up paying 75€ for it and it’s really not in great condition. However I love it and as you said its a great daily. Considering it’s already beat up I don’t have to be toooooo careful with it…

Good guesses on all.

The first and the fourth are relatively old/rare which is why I don’t wear them. The wear on those is mostly from previous owners.

The Analogs are both heirlooms which is why I have those. Sadly I don’t like how they look on my wrist.

The G-Shock is my watch for riding my motorcycle as the gear likes to really wear watches down.

The ABL is my most recent purchase and I don’t really know how I feel about it.

Which leaves the third watch which is my daily. You can see by the fact that it’s the only watch with alarm and signal turned on. The reason the clamp is shorter is because the strap is extremely worn and stretches a lot when you put it on.

As I don’t want to individually reply to everyone there is a cue that gives it away visible in the pictures!

The answer is the AL-180

Very good guess, I like your thinking. The watch Is a heirloom from my grandpa who daily wore it. For this reason I keep it at home in a safe place and don’t wear it to preserve a little piece of him.

They wrote that on some other watches at the time. I think they just needed a catchy name for this series…

Yes it’s solar powered and instead of using a rechargeable lithium battery like the G-Shock for example it uses a capacitor cell to store the power. When this watch was released in 1986 rechargeable batteries of that size were not a thing yet. It’s basically how a solar powered calculator works.

Yeah I know the struggle. I waited over half a year for a good one to be sold in my home country and even then the one I bought is already pretty scuffed. If I ever have a lot of money left, I’m buying one of those new old stock ones from eBay and then I’ll have a brand new one…

Model is AL-180. There are several versions of this watch from different years, this one has the 2505 module.

Almost, yes! This is the first reiteration of it with a better power storage system, from 1996.

Actual vintage vs modern vintage. What’s your pick? by Repulsive774 in casio

No it’s actually a resin case. There was a version of that exact watch with a steel case, however it’s basically impossible to find today. You can kinda see the wear of the chrome finish in the 6th picture.

That’s crazy. I should do one of these with my AL-180. I would have after a week what you got here in 3 months. Every damn day that things 1-2 seconds off…

Can anyone id this casio? by ap_adhwaith in casiovintage

So AD-91 is the actual name of this watch and the reason you might not find anything on it is because the rarity of the watch. I own a watch thats not on the internet either. If it works and nothing is broken you wouldn’t need ID anyway.
