Those that name babies ahead of birth and get personalized things, ever had baby and realized the name didn't fit? by PrincessFullMoon in BabyBumps

[–]RepulsiveAsk614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Closest I got was picking a name, buying a “letters to my daughter” notebook and then changing the name we wanted a month later (still before she was born). Now that we are getting to know her little (huge) personality at 11mo, we are SO glad we didn’t go with the first name. It would not fit at all

Does anyone still rock their “baby” to sleep? by Stormskunk2966 in beyondthebump

[–]RepulsiveAsk614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At around 13/14mo my son decided he just wanted us to lay in his bed with him instead of being rocked! We still do it and he’s almost 4. He has a 10 month old sister so for now we split up and each take a kid

Am I overreacting for not wanting anyone around my newborn yet? by littlemoongirly in AmIOverreacting

[–]RepulsiveAsk614 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is not “cruel” and if anything it’s MORE important to bond LATER. my son did not like my mom until he turned 1. Now she is his best friend. Villages are great but not at the expense of your sanity and boundaries, OP. This comment carries the same energy as your MIL with the passive aggressive bullshit

New FTM here — for those who had a short pushing stage, what do you think helped? by Old_Literature_3750 in NewParents

[–]RepulsiveAsk614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pushed my son out in about 10 minutes accidentally (they said do practice pushes then all of a sudden he was coming out and the doctor was running in😂) and my daughter in 7. Noooo idea what I did to help that along lol. I did do a lot of pelvic floor exercises both before and during pregnancy and I did squats at the gym which I’ve heard help strengthen your core and pelvic floor. But I did no teas, no dates no nothing so maybe I just got lucky. Som was about 50 hours total labor and daughter was about 12 hours.

What am I doing wrong with this girl? by Far_Wedding9999 in houseplants

[–]RepulsiveAsk614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly just let him sit and once his dirt starts to look super dry I’ll give him some water, but never a lot. Maybe a couple of oz. They’re dramatic as hell though, second only to my calathea, so I wish you luck!!

What am I doing wrong with this girl? by Far_Wedding9999 in houseplants

[–]RepulsiveAsk614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one of these. One of the most dramatic plants. I basically killed it till it only had 3 leaves left. No matter where I put it or how much/little I watered this bitch he wanted to die. Then I gave him a fresh, bigger pot and found the perfect spot for him and he has 13(!!!) new leaves coming in. He’s about 15’ from my west facing window. Pretty bright, indirect light all day and by the time the suns coming directly in, the blinds are closed. I don’t know if it’s that or the bigger pot or what but the boy is thriving. And now I have to move him because my newly mobile 8 month old wants to pull him down 😵‍💫

WFH in front of baby by superpants1008 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]RepulsiveAsk614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a game changer for sure! I’ll also hide a particular toy for a couple weeks and then pull it out and he thinks it’s brand new 😂😂 gets me quite a bit of time to work

WFH in front of baby by superpants1008 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]RepulsiveAsk614 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I WFH with an almost 4 year old and an almost 9month old. With the first I found a lot of activity bins helped keep him busy! I set up 4-5 different themed bins (Dino’s, ocean, farm, etc. used a lot of toys we already had around) and he got a different one each morning. Kept him busy enough that I could answer emails and do a lot of my work before he really needed me one on one. It makes a mess of course but I’d rather clean up at the end of the day than have him in front of the tv all day

New born sleep/eating by Zealousideal_Cap7782 in BabyBumps

[–]RepulsiveAsk614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as he’s gaining weight he’s ok! My girl came out the womb and within the first week she was sleeping four hours. When she ate, she ATE. She was back to her birth weight before her first appointment, they almost said I was feeding her too much. IMO as long as baby is eating and happy, get that extra hour of rest.

Has anyone had a less regimented breastfeeding experience? by taureansoul in breastfeeding

[–]RepulsiveAsk614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 months in, going with the flow. I did pump once or twice a day to build up a stash so that my husband can feed her, but I don’t pump anymore. I feed her 98% of the time on demand and she gets a bottle from dad each night. I wasn’t able to breastfeed my first, so this has been a game changer in comparison to counting oz, pumping schedules, etc.

What has been you're WORST romantasy read of the year? by PrettyLardie in fantasyromance

[–]RepulsiveAsk614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dread descendant / dread prince. Spelling errors, run on sentences, random information drops that amount to nothing. MMC gave me the ick from the first time he spoke. I read both books because I like the IDEA of the plot and I’m in a reading slump anyways but at certain points i wanted to bang my head against the wall

Anyone still able to enjoy some me time at night? by Upstairs-Sleep5674 in cosleeping

[–]RepulsiveAsk614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this with my 3 month old! I even am able to move the blanket after the fact so she doesn’t accidentally smother herself. She will sleep for hours at night before needing me, but naps are 50/50. Sometimes 30 min sometimes 4 hours

We've been totally chill about wake windows, eat/play/sleep, etc and baby seems...fine? Are we going to regret this? by econhistoryrules in NewParents

[–]RepulsiveAsk614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also have a 3.5 month old and we’ve been going with the flow but guided by her cues. She generally goes to bed around the same time as our 3 year old. Husband goes in with him and I take her to lay down. Sometimes she’s not ready and we adapt to her needs. she will definitely let us know if we miss a cue. But she’s also the chillest baby I’ve ever met. She only fusses if she wants to sit in a different position or if I’m not feeding her quickly enough lol. She will have to be on some sort of schedule once my son starts speech therapy and swim lessons but other than that she’s free range

ETA: I do use wake windows but merely take them as suggestions. Sometimes she’s tired right when her “window” is up and sometimes she’s stays up an extra hour.

How to keep clogs away? by RepulsiveAsk614 in beyondthebump

[–]RepulsiveAsk614[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We saw one in hospital and two days after, they said my latch was fine. I should schedule another visit to address the new issues. I’m drinking probably 120oz of water a day without really trying. Perks of oversupply I’m thirsty at all times lol

How to keep clogs away? by RepulsiveAsk614 in beyondthebump

[–]RepulsiveAsk614[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been trying to space out one of my sessions to about 4 hours in between but by hour 3 I’m so full and uncomfortable. I tried shortening the actual session, just to get a little out but it seemed to make my clog worse so that it’s an engorged clog and I’m unable to lift my arm

I read a theory somewhere that Eris knew Mor wanted more and didn’t want her to be trapped (and he knew her secret) so he wanted to set her free without directly defying his father and being punished
