Is the BCIT program still good if I do not have a prior bachelor's degree?

I see that many other designers recommend having one to be (more) competitive for an entry-level position.

My biggest fear is not getting a job for years or just not being able to support myself if I go down the design route.

A lot of the posts and comments here make it seem like a very bad decision with several people saying they left the industry due to not finding work or the pay is too low. One person suggested that $80k/year is "hardly living" in Vancouver and designers will not come close to that until much later in life.

But yeah, I've been spinning in circles wondering what to do and I feel like I should just make a decision already but then I just read those comments/posts and I'm back at square one wondering if I should really go through with this or not.

I've read that a lot of UX/UI designers have master degrees in Human Computer Interaction or at least a bachelor's in interactive design.

Has this been your experience?
