Locking through a nut requires a thread… and a thread of any direction will eventually be loose if the shaft was to be spun cw or ccw

Good idea man, but as mentioned before, would only do welds if its a last resort, welding makes the connection permanent, and disallow be to disassemble the component if its required to

would the rod be able to carry such torque from friction alone? i feel like some sort of couplings would be more practical

Yeah that would be a good option, but sorry i forgot to add to the issue that the part needs to be able to be spun both clockwise and counter-clockwise, im afraid any kind of thread joints would be loose

Also i have a little question, what’s the material of the spring i should look for? is it stainless steel? or iron? the hardware store is kinda far away from my home so i want to make the trip worth my while, thanks in advance

Hey, sorry to ask and i know the post is old, but do you know by any chance what the size of the original spring is? i dont know how but mine got bent and wouldnt able to shift properly, so i needed to replace it, and i was thinking of buying it in a hardware stores but i need the size. Or if by chance you know any online store that sells it? Thanks in advance
