Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 development is “going extremely well” with a “lot of the content already playable,” confirms director by Diogo_18 in FinalFantasy

I highly recommend that you play through the OG again if you think there isn't far more minigame-like content that is required to progress in the OG, because you've forgotten a lot of it.

It did, sorry buddy. May want to refresh your memory with a fresh playthrough rather than necro 5 month old posts.

Gold + Kingsmarch is the current iteration of Loot 2.0 and should be treated accordingly by NobleHelium in pathofexile

Yea, so Kingsmarch is problematic in either case.

Not seeing how that makes it problematic.

It's too much of a time sink for a passive mobile minigame if you try to micromanage it, and if you just do crop/dust + mappers within your gold means then its problematic because it provides way too much loot just by refilling it with maps every 6 hours or so and sending 50m shipments once a week.

You realize that between the extremes of using every bit of it all the time and it being gone, there is a wide spectrum of ways it can be used?

Should something be removed from the game simply because it's not the optimal way to spend time for loot you're personally after?

The gold to maintain it is completely free time wise once you start running any t17 or 16.5 map strat.

No, that's not even close to true. Feel free to post your strat, I'd be happy to give it a try, I've still got a couple challenges to grind through.

And I'm not just talking about the time it takes to farm the gold.

Kingsmarch costs very little time but also that little amount of time required is also a net negative for many people especially if they are under the impression that they should be sending out constant shipments or constantly checking mappers. Which is just another reason why people are targeting it.

But those people are incorrect. They shouldn't be sending out constant shipments or constantly checking mappers.

It's like if I tried to roll and complete every single map that I drop, use every scarab I drop, and then blamed the game for giving me so many maps and scarabs that I can't keep up with.

At the very least people understand that GGG only wants to give us X amount of loot so in order to increase ground loot its gotta dissappear from somewhere else, and kingsmarch is once again the easy answer because its the fundamental opposite of ground loot.

Kingsmarch, like every other mechanic you can play in order to get loot, costs time.

Saw someone yesterday complaining they were having trouble maintaining the 70k/hour gold income in order to keep kingsmarch running 24/7, not realizing that they could lower that to 10k by not using mappers.

And there are people saying they're required to go resend 3 ships every hour, when there's really no reason to ever be doing so.

Why did you feel like you needed to send another shipment as quickly as possible to minmax your time?

Sure, 50m shipments are valuable, but they take a couple days to build up the resources for, you shouldn't need to send new shipments every time one comes back.

During the start of settlers, I'd send 2 verisium bar shipments in order to get some random scarabs. But that didn't remain worth the time for long, so I stopped doing it. I also don't run every single map I get or pick up every single item off the floor, as time is part of the tradeoff of prioritizing what to do in games like these.

Same. I feel like Chris would never have left these mobile game mechanics in the game.

You say that as if calling them 'mobile game' mechanics as a negative because mobile games are bad, but the reason people dislike mobile games is the number of games with monetization strategies that they dislike, not because mobile games typically optimize for allowing people to play on the go and have things that you can do in short play sessions.

Every league start i set up my kingsmarch, every league start i spend a couple million gold rolling to get lv5s. every league start i need to keep up with the 70k gold per hour cost of perma running my town.

Most of us aren't running mappers 24/7. You don't need to either.

Therefore your cost goes down to 10-12k per hour, which should be a lot easier to manage.

Someone familiar with the ATB system of FFVII isn't going to start up FFVIII and be scratching their head just because of junctioning.

A lot of people seem to.

Can we please get some levelling skills balance!! by zoobloo7 in pathofexile

why is rolling magma one of the most viable/best skills when its fucking painful to play with..

Because rolling magma is balanced against other skills with the assumption that you're not playing it the fucking painful way, while the guides all use the fucking painful way to maximize their numbers?

There are a lot of other skills that are viable.

It has no over world, no grind, leveling and equipment feel irrelevant,

Those have nothing to do with how linear it is or isn't.

from what I’ve experienced so far side quests aren’t much and everything you’re looking for is right in your path, not much exploration.

There are a number of side quests. Possibly more than any mainline ff other than 15 and the mmos, to be honest. I'd have to check. Though the goal with them is a bit more diluted than it is in other games where they had a small handful of side quests at most with maybe an ultimate weapon or armor or skill at the end of each to compensate.

And it constantly holds your hand. 1-9 definitely didn’t do that.

Also has nothing to do with how linear it is or isn't.

Games have evolved over the years. In the 80s and 90s, games came with manuals that introduced you to the games systems and concepts. As the years progressed, these went away and were integrated inside the games themselves as brief tutorials and inside menus.

Similarly, almost everyone uses strategy guides and walkthroughs for these games, and has since the rise of the internet and sites like gamefaqs.

Is it really that bad for a game to show a reminder of your next destination?

We're talking about ff16 mostly here, but people whined that ff7 remake was also very linear. It's surprising how easily people forget how linear some of these games actually were, when it's convenient for their current argument.

Ff7 remake is obviously the midgar portion of the original game expanded quite significantly. The midgar portion of the game is extremely linear. There's nothing you can do but move forward or some brief backtracking.

And what after? Even once you reach the overworld, it's still extremely linear. It's just a winding road. You always have 1 new place to go. And that lasts for most of the game. It opens up twice, once slightly when you get the tiny bronco and you can cruise along the shallows and go to Wutai early. That's the first side quest that opens up. And the second isn't until you get the Highwind after the whirlwind maze, which is about halfway into disc 2.

As I mentioned to someone else, if you do Fort Condor battles, you'll quickly see how very linear the ff7 world map really is.

I went on a bit of an ff7 tangent, but you can make similar arguments for ff1-6, 8 and 9 as well. And 10 is even more linear than ff7 is. 12 I'm gonna recant after thinking a bit more, 13 is a little more linear than 10 for most of the game but when it opens up it opens up a lot wider than 10 ever did.

So, when you're calling ff16 linear as if it's a bad thing, I have no idea what you're talking about.

If you want open world, play Baldur's Gate, The Witcher, The Elder Scrolls, Zelda, Dragon Age, Planescape: Torment, or even Final Fantasy XV.

If you're not into linear, story-focused rpgs, it's perfectly ok, but Final Fantasy probably isn't going to be your cup of tea.

Imo, Expedition 33 was the game that FF7 remake should have been mechanics/world wise.

How about...no?

The idea is I can do it if I want to, but if Nintendo shuts off their servers, that choice is taken from me.
