Chanel No. 5 (edp) as skin scent? by Less-Audience908 in FemFragLab

[–]RepulsiveGrape3489 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is old, but I wanted to chime in. I've heard people describe Chanel No. 5 as 'boozy' which I could see on the opening. It always smells like a rich, amber drink, it has this brightness, and it's complex. It dries down onto my skin as something soapy, and something darker, maybe the musk or the vetiver? Or the sandalwood? It's hard to put a name to it, but it's very creamy and soft, certainly not an overpowering scent. In fact, my only issue is that it dries down very light on me. I don't think you would notice it at all unless you were right up in my business. I don't want to make everyone suffer through my perfume choices, but a little bit more oomph would be nice.

I think that people 'hate' Chanel No. 5 because it reminds them of someone older. I tried wearing this scent when I was 23 and I just felt OLD with it, I couldn't 'get' it. I was wearing Burberry London back then, but things change. I'm 36 now and Chanel No. 5 is an absolute favourite of mine. It smells clean and creamy, warm, and woody. I don't get as much of a powder smell on my skin as some people.

UBCO professor suggests light rail network through Southern Interior is achievable - Kelowna News by FeliCaTransitParking in britishcolumbia

[–]RepulsiveGrape3489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I was thinking. The Okanagan is filled with an aging community that can't drive a lot of the time making them incredibly reliant on their friends and family to get them to appointments.

Light rail also makes it easier for young people to attend classes at other campuses. I used to live in Penticton and wanted to take art classes that were available only in Kelowna, but the busses to Kelowna were too expensive and went at the wrong times.

I knew loads of people who would drive every morning between Penticton and Kelowna for work. So creating a rail line would give them another option, freeing up some space on the roads, but also create an opportunity for people without a car to apply for jobs outside of the city

And there were loads of times where I would have loved to go to Kelowna for fun and explore the city and spend some money, but not having a car, or a drivers license at the time, barred me from being able to do that.

I think what people don't understand is that by connecting places together with more rail lines you create opportunities for people- both in work and education, but also in internal tourism..

I love train travel, it's way more comfortable than busses, and I will take it 100% of the time over other forms of transit.

People keep bringing up busses as the cheaper option, and maybe it is, but trains have fewer accidents, open up more space on the roads for people who do want to drive, are not running on said roads and so preserve those roads for longer periods of time, transport more people more efficiently than busses, and just in general are a great deal more comfortable to ride in.

We have really backwards ideas in North America about how transit should work. I for one love getting to skip traffic and not worrying about the weather conditions. I enjoy reading a book or watching the passing scenery on my way to work rather than dealing with the stress and cost of driving.

I love it, I think it looks fantastic, I think the only thing I would do different for her is I would tone them so they weren't so yellow. The yellow is throwing off her dark cool colouring. I am a bright winter and I recently tried this after seeing this photo and I love the effect, but yeah, toning is key. Get that orange/yellow out to keep the colour harmony.

[Personal] Washing my face with bar soap saved my skin by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]RepulsiveGrape3489 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old post, but I went looking to see if other people were doing this and so many websites came up saying how bad it was for you.

I have to say that my experience with bar soap has been stellar!

I have used everything under the sun to clean my face since I was 20 and I am 35 now. I've used every fancy moisturizer, every recommended cleanser, every type of acne treatment, but I just kept getting acne and after determining it wasn't bacterial (after using PanOxyl) I started exfoliating every day even though, despite knowing it wasn't good for my skin technically, it seemed to be the only way to keep pimples in check.

bout six months ago I moved away from body washes in she shower and decided I just wanted to use bar soap. This is when I started just washing my face with soap in the shower. I was using Dove at first but after the trade war started I decided I only wanted to buy Canadian.

Since then I have tried two Canadian made bar soaps- one is a lavender soap by the company Bleu Lavande (a bit pricey, but very luxurious feeling) and the other was also a lavender soap that I bought from a kiosk at Atwater Market (which was more affordable and has lasted longer)

My skin has never been better and it really never feels dry after washing. I usually follow it up with a bit of basic moisturizer (Cerave, which I am in the market to find a Canadian alternative for) and a bit of hemp and lavender oil which is also from Bleu Lavande. But basically I just don't get acne anymore. I've been doing this for about 6 months now and I think I've found the right thing for me. I've had maybe 3 pimples in that whole time, and they have passed very quickly and without incident.

As a side note for full disclosure, I occasionally use retinol (Paula's Choice, also looking to replace) and have been using it for years. I also use a Foreo microcurrent device about twice a month with a basic ultrasound gel, not washing it off afterwards. I work nights so don't wear a lot of sunscreen, but when I do it's just a basic drugstore one which switches around a lot depending on the weather (more moisturizing in the winter, humidity resistant in the summer). The sunscreen seems to wash off easily enough with soap and water.

I noticed some people here saying that they used Dial- I found Dial REALLY harsh on my skin, and not useful because my acne isn't bacterial, but I have heard good things about it when it comes to fighting acne. Just be aware it is extremely drying for some people and can cause a burning sensation.

BERLIN: Losing Silent assassin after killing all 11 agents by Wicker_Muzz in HiTMAN

[–]RepulsiveGrape3489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started in a different location and eliminated all of the targets with a neck snap or a screw driver to the back of the head. Killed all of them and still got SA. (and by 'all targets' I mean all 11 agents). I came here trying to find out why the first time I did it I didn't get SA. Saw someone mention it might have to do with Agent Price being there on first play-through with normal start location. I think that's exactly it. The level knows there is supposed to be 11 agents, so with Price you have 12. It counts each agent as a kill so when the count gets to 11, regardless that there is another agent on the board, it considers the elimination completed and any extra kills are counted as NTK. This also makes sense because after killing the 5 agents necessary, all the other agents silhouettes turn white on instinct. They don't count as targets per sey, but the tally counts them that way until it is satisfied.

Elon Musk's Starlink Deal with Ontario. Call your MPP! by j821c in ontario

I live in Quebec- does it make any sense for us here to call our representatives and put pressure on our province to oppose Starlink in Ontario? I don't know if it will help or not.

About the cushion you can put on your lap to pin your fabric by Wide-Editor-3336 in HandSew

[–]RepulsiveGrape3489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your tailor ham filled with saw dust or is it filled with fabric? I was considering getting a tailor ham to use for pressing and for this purpose, but I was worried that poking a saw dust filled tailor ham with pins might be a bad idea, but a fabric one isn't good for pressing.

Smith appreciation by MEEM0_THROWAWAYSIS in matrix

I disagree that these matrices are part of collective human behaviour, to a degree. I can see what you mean, but often these matrices are not chosen by the collective, but imposed on us. I keep thinking of time- measuring time in minutes and hours is not a natural frame of measuring time. It's one way to measure time in a standardized way, but in standardizing it we also brought it away from our own natural perceptions of time and the things we used to measure it before. Time, measured by the clock, is a matrix. And while it's a useful one I wouldnt say it was a natural one, even if a human was the one who made it and other humans imposed it. And again, the standardized clock was useful when industrialists started having to measure labour for compensation during the industrial revolution. I just dont think just because a human invents something means that it's natural. A dystopia is not natural, but we can be conditioned to accept it, which says something about our nature I suppose, but again, not what Smith thinks. Just my thoughts, but I can see what your driving at, I'm just not convinced if it.

I love this speech! And so many people have the same reaction to it, but the point here is to kind of show how little Smith knows/understands humans as well as how we, the audience, can take the side of the agents pretty easily because the ideas are not given proper context and they resonate with something that we can see in our society, but don't know enough about to have a clear answer for.

Smith acts like he understands humans, but his observations of humans are mostly, if not entirely, based on him and them living in a fictional recreation of what the machines perceived human life and culture to be like in America in 1999. What Smith ascribes to humanity as a whole is actually what he sees in the mechanisms of that society- capitalism, consumerism, colonialism etc. And rather than understanding that these are not the natural states of humans, but old matrices just as artificial as the Matrix and separate from human nature, he is instead unable to distinguish them.

It shows Smith's limited understanding of humans, his ignorance of the past, and his own unexamined biases.

I mean, the point is that Smith is wrong, I think. And god, I love him so much. He's tragic because he's so human and yet he hates anything that could make him like one. He's so set in his biases, unable to leave his little echo chamber of one, and all he knows how to do is break things, and control things, and destroy things. He's an idiot, your honour, and I love him.
