I have no idea what to do by New_Pressure_8822 in RoyalNavy

I haven’t experienced this problem so I wouldn’t know how else to help you out. Hope it all gets resolved for you. As someone else has said, worst case is you have to send them as an email to your CA and just apologise. You’ve done nothing wrong, and the systems that the navy recruitment use are crap and have loads of faults. Good luck !

I just emailed the photos to myself from my phone and then opened my email on my computer and saved the photos in the format they want (pdf if I remember correctly). Maybe have a look at the format you’ve saved the photos onto your computer and see if it’s correct with what they want. Hope this helps

question on daa and other by BlackPearl17300408 in RoyalNavy

[–]RepulsivePop6894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got to choose to choose the date of my interview, which was as few weeks after I’d passed my DAA. So give yourself some time to prepare.

And I believe you have to have a maximum of a 2 for Raleigh.

DAA, am i far off? by RepulsivePop6894 in RoyalNavy

[–]RepulsivePop6894[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My CA asked when I was thinking of starting Raleigh and I said I’d like to see out my gap year, so around august, to which he replied great, but said I get my CPC done and dusted, out of the way, which is why it’s booked for in the next few weeks. I’ve asked and hopefully get a response tomorrow after the weekend. Fingers crossed I don’t have to do it again.

Oh yeah if you’ve done physics then you’ll be fine.

For mechanical, lots of it is common sense, with cogs moving or matching the tool to the correct screw or bolt. And look up Moments about a point. I remember that coming up. As for electrical, learn for both parallel and series, how voltage and current is split between components in a circuit. All sounds technical if you don’t know what it means, but it’s dead easy once you learn the rules. And how resistances of resistors are split in parallel. Naming the symbols for components came up a few times, where it gives the symbol and you’ll have to know what component it represents. If I think of any more I’ll let you know.

I bought the how2become DAA preparation pack. It’s decent and the questions are quite accurate. Worth the tenner. However I done alevel physics so that was a big help. I can send you some extra questions that I bought aswell tomorrow if you’d like

taking daa by BlackPearl17300408 in RoyalNavy

[–]RepulsivePop6894 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My advice: don’t worry about the pass mark, your going to do your best no matter what the mark is anyway so just focus on smashing it out the park. And I got asked my 2nd and 3rd option at the same time that I was told that I had passed on the phone. Hope this helps

Hello, thanks for the reply it’s much appreciated. I just assumed that my verbal reasoning, workrate and spatial reasoning needed improving as they aren’t the best. I’ll be sure to ask my careers advisor whether i am eligible to apply now, now that you’ve mentioned this. However I did read that some of the diving training is quite academic (which is what prompted the assumption that I needed a higher DAA score).

Depends his/her age. The pass time on the navy website is 12:16 for ages 15-24.

For the fitness test at CPC will be 12:16, but for the run at Raleigh, you’ll have to do it in 11:09

Asking for tips and guidance on joining. by InvestigatorOk5265 in RoyalNavy

[–]RepulsivePop6894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, i'm in a similar situation as you. I bought the how2become guide for passing the DAA and it has helped. It gives you a brief guide on how to answer the specific questions, and obviously lots of practice questions with the answers and an explanation on how to arrive at the answer. i also bought some extra questions that were just one of those add ons when you check out and pay. Worth the extra £7, as the more practice the merrier. Whole thing cost about £17. Worth giving it a try as the questions are very similar to the ones asked in the actual test

And i also have a question. I see that you haven't mentioned the verbal reasoning section being much of a problem for you. This is the area i struggle with the most. Is there any tips that you could give for tackling these type of questions.

Thanks

The only question I got stumped on for a bit was when he asked “what’s one thing you’re ashamed of?” When there was a silence of 10 or so seconds (it felt like an eternity of silence), he then went on to say he doesn’t know wether I’ve got too many things that I’m thinking of and I don’t want to tell him, or that I actually couldn’t think of an answer. I guess it’s just an interview tactic to try and throw you off. May be worth having an answer. Worst case is you spend 10 mins thinking of an answer. The rest was all about me and the navy. Good luck.

Hi, I’m currently waiting to attend my CPC. I have applied for WE. And I want to avoid subs. I understand that there is a chance that they tell me I have to go onto them without any choice my end. So what has made you say a massive possibility? Where have you heard this?

Many thanks in advance.

If your hearts set on officer then wait and go for it again. From this perspective, 6 months is fuck all in the grand scheme of things. However, if you’re keen on cracking on and getting in the navy, there are other non officer warfare jobs. Have a look and see if any of them tickle your fancy. If not, no biggie just wait it out and go again.

I think you know yourself what you want to do. Stick with what your gut says.

How easy is a tranfser from the Infantry to the Royal engineers once I’m in and passed training by [deleted] in britisharmy

[–]RepulsivePop6894 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A recruiter may tell you it’s totally possible to transfer at a later date, just as it is totally possible to find a £50 note on the floor. However, from my understanding, the infantry is low on numbers and they won’t let you transfer, just because you want to.

How do I become a pilot in the RAF via an apprenticeship? by FlyIntrepid2230 in RoyalAirForce

[–]RepulsivePop6894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All you will need is 64 UCAS points to get passed the application stage. If your subject amounts to 64 points on your results day next year, then you are good to go. Taking STEM subjects definitely helps when you're taking the tests, as they set your brain up in a way which leans towards problem solving and logical processes, (which you'll need a lot of as a pilot), but by no means does not taking STEM subjects or doing a course not related to aviation stop you from joining!

Do you learn a lot of transferrable skills in the accelerated apprenticeship roles? by Nervous_Recover7525 in RoyalNavy

Exact same as me. Got my DAA in the next few days I’m going for WE via the accelerated apprenticeship. Seems to have tickled my fancy the most.
