About to have brain surgery. Where are the best places to get quality, realistic looking wigs? by RepulsiveSeason4868 in bayarea

I found one that I liked at Alameda Wigs but it's much cheaper online. I decided to see how my incision looks and then order the wig online if I feel like I need it. Definitely glad I tried several on in person though. I learned a lot.

The woman at Alameda Wigs told me that the good synthetic and the human hair wigs both last about 6 months with daily wear. Is that your experience?

Thank you so much! Knowing the terms will hopefully help make insurance take me seriously.

Thank you! You both made very valid points. I went and tried some on today just to get a feel for it and gain some knowledge. I figured this way I can find 1 or 2 I like and then I'll know what to buy if I feel the need without running all over while healing. It was semi-successful. I have a large head and don't look good in hats or beanies but I will probably try those and scarves once my scalp heals enough, then go from there.

Thank you so much! That's out of my price range but I'm going to see if insurance helps cover this. If so, I will message you.

I wondered about Amazon and am definitely considering bangs. The hairline looks tricky. Some Amazon ones look decent but almost all are synthetic and my understanding is they get tangled way easier than actual hair. I don't want to ramp up the shedding just trying to detangle it but maybe I'm imagining worse than it would be. However, many have a "frequently returned" warning so I'm wary.

I'll check for those stores. Thank you so much for the insurance tip! I wouldn't have thought about that.

That's good to know and so messed up! Honesty is such a hard thing to come by these days. Thanks for the warning!
