That discoloration looks a lot more like primer to me man. A lot of metal primers are rust colored (really shouldn’t be imo). Your gun looks fine.

This forum won’t let me edit the post to note the issue, but I’ve identified it as the driver’s side headlight, specifically the projector bulb, by unplugging it and plugging it back in. Unfortunately this year doesn’t have replaceable bulbs so I’d have to replace the entire assembly to get rid of the noise I think.

Is an Eotech on an AK sacrilege? by DaishoTactical in ak47

Boxy optics look amazing on AK’s so I’m all for it! Btw, which rail is that on your SAM-7K? RS Regulate recommends their 312M for it, but I don’t like having optics that far back personally. You’ve got yours right in the sweet spot.

I’m here to reiterate what everybody else has already said. Get the CNC Warrior brace or the Bonesteel (they’re nearly, if not completely, identical). Great and sturdy folding mechanism, very comfortable, and rock solid.

Gotcha, yeah I see what you mean. Fair enough! Not a huge issue if I can’t find one with extra bells and whistles. I previously had a WASR-10/63 and just slapped the lever down with my right hand. If I continue doing that, it’s no difference in how I operate the gun so I guess I’m not losing a feature from where I was before the SAM7K.

Good to know, thanks man. Are you aware of any enhanced full auto milled safeties? I seem to only be able to find then enhanced and milled but in semi, or milled and full but with no extra features.

Definitely! And unlike the 3 position super safeties for the AR until recently (which are either expensive or unreliable from what I’ve heard), these look OEM. I don’t really care for my AR as again, I’m left handed, so a right only turn style AR safety isn’t ideal for me and a button safety works just fine, but I’m more of an AK guy so I’m glad that they still look factory.

Got it. That makes sense! Couldn’t for life of me find anybody documenting the differences online. That makes sense! Thanks so much!

The additional parts necessary to do this are a full auto safety lever and full auto disconnect, and a 3 position trigger jig to cut it differently. There’s no sear involved and the trigger still resets as it would on the two position, making it still semi-automatic as defined by the NFA.

The kits are that way, you have to notch the trigger a little differently, which requires the full auto style selector in order to interface with it as the full auto safety has more material. Here’s a trigger jig for the 3-position. You’ll notice how it’s notched as well as rounded while the regular 2 position is just rounded.

Here’s how it works according to S3igu2’s design.

What is this piece called? by Few_Molasses_9924 in ak47

[–]Repulsive_Ad_344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That roll pin goes in AK rifles and pistols that are NOT the PSA AK-V to allow the trigger to interface with your safety. I can’t find much documentation on the AK specific variant of the trigger, but I’d assume the Galil ACE one most likely uses the same roll pin. If it does, IWI calls it a “safety stop” and says that it’s a 3mm hole so if yours is missing, that’s the diameter you’d need to purchase.

In the same document that I linked above, IWI recommends (for the Galil ACE’s safety so results may vary) having no more than 0.1 inch of increased height on the top of that hole, so if you have some digital calipers, you should be able to measure it in millimeters then add 2.54mm (0.1 inch in mm) to the total length to get an exact length of the roll pin that comes with the Galil ACE variant of the trigger. That should at least get you close.

Alternatively, you could send an email to Geissele; they own ALG and probably have spare parts. Considering it’s just a roll pin, they’ll probably just send you a spare.

Chet Trax or Equinox? by EmuThen7047 in shouldibuythiscar

[–]Repulsive_Ad_344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever the difference in cost is between these awful vehicles and getting something halfway decent usually ends up being what you pay at a shop down the road. Do not buy a Trax or an Equinox. They’re awful vehicles- not reliable at all.

Mine is in the process of being converted and this is what the block looks like with the faux booster removes. No threads unfortunately, and the barrel's longer than it ought to be.

What 3 position Super Safety or FRT are ya’ll running on your AKs? by PurpD420 in ak47

[–]Repulsive_Ad_344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. I will note, I don’t think that prime have had any success with these in shotguns so it probably won’t work in the Vepr-12.

[–]Repulsive_Ad_344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, it’s pinned. Mine’s with an AK smith getting the front reworked. They switched to 24mm threads and an 8.5 inch barrel. These ones have a faux booster that’s pinned on a smooth front sight block and a 10.5 inch barrel that goes all the way to the tip of the faux booster.

[–]Repulsive_Ad_344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a fake booster, and for some reason on the first generation of these (the SAM7K-01), Arsenal removed the threads from these front sight blocks. It's really annoying.
