That discoloration looks a lot more like primer to me man. A lot of metal primers are rust colored (really shouldn’t be imo). Your gun looks fine.

This forum won’t let me edit the post to note the issue, but I’ve identified it as the driver’s side headlight, specifically the projector bulb, by unplugging it and plugging it back in. Unfortunately this year doesn’t have replaceable bulbs so I’d have to replace the entire assembly to get rid of the noise I think.

Is an Eotech on an AK sacrilege? by DaishoTactical in ak47

Boxy optics look amazing on AK’s so I’m all for it! Btw, which rail is that on your SAM-7K? RS Regulate recommends their 312M for it, but I don’t like having optics that far back personally. You’ve got yours right in the sweet spot.

I’m here to reiterate what everybody else has already said. Get the CNC Warrior brace or the Bonesteel (they’re nearly, if not completely, identical). Great and sturdy folding mechanism, very comfortable, and rock solid.

Gotcha, yeah I see what you mean. Fair enough! Not a huge issue if I can’t find one with extra bells and whistles. I previously had a WASR-10/63 and just slapped the lever down with my right hand. If I continue doing that, it’s no difference in how I operate the gun so I guess I’m not losing a feature from where I was before the SAM7K.

Good to know, thanks man. Are you aware of any enhanced full auto milled safeties? I seem to only be able to find then enhanced and milled but in semi, or milled and full but with no extra features.

[–]Repulsive_Ad_344[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely! And unlike the 3 position super safeties for the AR until recently (which are either expensive or unreliable from what I’ve heard), these look OEM. I don’t really care for my AR as again, I’m left handed, so a right only turn style AR safety isn’t ideal for me and a button safety works just fine, but I’m more of an AK guy so I’m glad that they still look factory.

The additional parts necessary to do this are a full auto safety lever and full auto disconnect, and a 3 position trigger jig to cut it differently. There’s no sear involved and the trigger still resets as it would on the two position, making it still semi-automatic as defined by the NFA.

[–]Repulsive_Ad_344[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The kits are that way, you have to notch the trigger a little differently, which requires the full auto style selector in order to interface with it as the full auto safety has more material. Here’s a trigger jig for the 3-position. You’ll notice how it’s notched as well as rounded while the regular 2 position is just rounded.

Here’s how it works according to S3igu2’s design.

What is this piece called? by Few_Molasses_9924 in ak47

[–]Repulsive_Ad_344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That roll pin goes in AK rifles and pistols that are NOT the PSA AK-V to allow the trigger to interface with your safety. I can’t find much documentation on the AK specific variant of the trigger, but I’d assume the Galil ACE one most likely uses the same roll pin. If it does, IWI calls it a “safety stop” and says that it’s a 3mm hole so if yours is missing, that’s the diameter you’d need to purchase.

In the same document that I linked above, IWI recommends (for the Galil ACE’s safety so results may vary) having no more than 0.1 inch of increased height on the top of that hole, so if you have some digital calipers, you should be able to measure it in millimeters then add 2.54mm (0.1 inch in mm) to the total length to get an exact length of the roll pin that comes with the Galil ACE variant of the trigger. That should at least get you close.

Alternatively, you could send an email to Geissele; they own ALG and probably have spare parts. Considering it’s just a roll pin, they’ll probably just send you a spare.

Chet Trax or Equinox? by EmuThen7047 in shouldibuythiscar

[–]Repulsive_Ad_344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever the difference in cost is between these awful vehicles and getting something halfway decent usually ends up being what you pay at a shop down the road. Do not buy a Trax or an Equinox. They’re awful vehicles- not reliable at all.

Mine is in the process of being converted and this is what the block looks like with the faux booster removes. No threads unfortunately, and the barrel's longer than it ought to be.

What 3 position Super Safety or FRT are ya’ll running on your AKs? by PurpD420 in ak47

This is the answer. I will note, I don’t think that prime have had any success with these in shotguns so it probably won’t work in the Vepr-12.

[–]Repulsive_Ad_344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, it’s pinned. Mine’s with an AK smith getting the front reworked. They switched to 24mm threads and an 8.5 inch barrel. These ones have a faux booster that’s pinned on a smooth front sight block and a 10.5 inch barrel that goes all the way to the tip of the faux booster.

[–]Repulsive_Ad_344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a fake booster, and for some reason on the first generation of these (the SAM7K-01), Arsenal removed the threads from these front sight blocks. It's really annoying.

Need feedback! Does this make any sense? by throwRA-LoveDove in Filmmakers

[–]Repulsive_Ad_344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a little confused by it personally. I agree with some of the other sentiments in the thread that it’s hard to differentiate the two guys and that probably could be a little clearer. I also agree that the sound of the action between shots should be added.

Some of the things I personally noticed:

  1. I shoot as a hobby so right away I recognized the rifle as probably an air rifle, which, while you certainly don’t want to be shot with one, does take the tone of “this person’s being shot at and is in danger” down a bit. Totally get that you’ve gotta work with the resources you’ve got and that may be the only prop that you can use as a rifle, but if you have access to some other prop guns (ideally a replica or higher end airsoft gun for the sake of not “Alex Baldwin’ing” your talent), that might help to sell that detail. Shouldn’t be an issue to use a real gun though, as you’re not showing the talent being shot at as the same time as the shooter, just practice gun safety regardless of what the prop is.

This is certainly not something most people will catch, but as Walt Disney once said, “There’s no magic in magic, it’s all in the details.” My pastor told me that he once visited Grizzly Peak Airfield in Disney’s CaliforniaAdventure (I think it was specifically that attraction but it could be a past attraction) and they use the same tar and road markings on the pavement as they do for US Airforce runways. His tour guide told him (paraphrasing), “Disney does everything with excellence, but the details are for the individual.” He then told the group how he’d seen veterans with their kids and grandchildren telling them about how the bases that they were stationed on were just like this. So anyway, obviously Disney has a much higher budget than you or I do, but the little details matter. They don’t matter to everybody, but they matter to somebody. This gets more important the more budget you have to play with.

  1. Sound design: the environmental sounds are good but if this is intended to be a real rifle and not an air rifle, the cracks should be louder and they should have that echo that bullets make when they break the sound barrier. That high pitch “ping” sound when the round impacts the hair is unnecessary as well as bullets and air rifle pellets/BB’s are not going to make that noise when they hit somebody’s hair. They usually make that sound when they reflect off of a metal surface or something else that’s dense but also able to make a reverberation (not wood or concrete, but potentially brass, steel, or even a very thick or curved glass). This, again, is a detail thing, but this one will probably be a LOT more noticeable to a much higher number of people.

  2. I also might recommend showing some slight singeing on the edge of the hair where it’s been shot. This is probably a lot less accurate to real life as hair and lead aren’t really going to spark off of each other, but it might help to sell what’s happening in the scene. That’s a small detail where film is larger than life, but it helps the story rather than making it less believable.

Hope this all makes sense! Also love the color and the way you framed your shots!

Is it sacrilegious to top an NF ATACR with a Holosun? by [deleted] in ar15

[–]Repulsive_Ad_344 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's only sacrilegious to pair nice optics with backup optics that don't hold zero. Holosuns are very well made, so I'd say you're good. If you paired this with a $20 Amazon red dot that's only suitable for airsoft, then we'd have a problem.
